  • my thoughts on yesterday and the future........a facto special report!!!

firstly the thousands of empty seats for the most important home game ,so far, of the season finally lays to rest this mockery of a notion we need '40000' seat new stadiums......queens park rangers fc would/can never sell out grounds of this size......ive loved going to loftus rd since the age of five in 1970 but the atmosphere(or lack of it now) bar a few short rendidtions of nico nico, charlie, charlie is akin to the library at the emirates....on the field we continue to flatter to deceive at the top of an undoubted very low quality division.....burnley are basically a team with two good strikers and not much else but looked like scoring every time they got in our box(which basically they did)....i admire the clints/dunnes of this world but they would get raped week in week out if we went up.....look at burnleys goals and if im not mistake rob green shouldve got nearer one and three??....the boy hoilett really has to be one of the most over rated signings ever.....is he that 'better' than jamie mackie??....i know he set up maiga's goal but for me big ned went past their left hand side more??.......by the way i thought ned was fantastic yesterday.....nico and joey in the central midfield are ok but too slow by a long way to keep up with counter attacks without giving away fouls to mask their lack of speed....we really are missing fraulin in this dept....now for the new boys....doyle scored ,which is all we can ask, but not really much else if im honest....the boy maiga actually looks a unit and in his short cameo looked better than i thought he was.....at least he looks like he wants to have a pop at goal....

i think harry redknapp and his staff have done quite well to keep this squad( some on here hold in high esteem yet in reality look unbalanced) in an automatic spot.....i think derby will replace us in second on monday week and the reading game then becomes a real acid test of our desire to remain an automatic promotion challenger!........in all fairness we havent looked like beating any of the contenders bar early season derby!

bakes nico has unboutded class but the championship is played at breakneak speed and him and joey are slower than a scouser looking for work!

"nico and joey in the central midfield are ok but too slow by a long way to keep up with counter attacks without giving away fouls to mask their lack of speed....we really are missing fraulin in this dept" - Really?? Speed was certainly not one of Faurlins strong points.

dont be flippant....fraulin for me is a hugely underated talent in central midfield!

              - We will fill the 40k stadium. Not today, not in 5 years. But in 20 years and further? Yes, we will. And I dont expect to move for another 100 years or so, so long term its important we have it.
              - It was poor defending for 2nd goal. Hoilett didnt close his man down quick enough and Dunne lost his man in the box. 3rd goal was just awful.
              - Hoilett too much of a luxury player.
              - Dunne/Hill great at this level but I think we all agree we will need at least 1 new CB if we go up. They will dominate against the Barnsleys, but put them up against pacy powerful front men and we're in trouble.
              - Niko had a quiet game
              - Ned was ok, not a rb though. But clumsy on the ball.

No doubting nikos class he oozes it with every touch but unfortunately it doesnt seem like theres a good position for him in a 442 formation. The only place we can afford to play him is just behind the lone striker but I prefer two up top. Playing with twelve would be ideal!

Interesting comment by the OP about the thousands of empty seats yesterday. We weren't far short of being 90% full according to the official attendance for a game that was early kick off on TV.

Then, watching the football league show, there were thousands of empty seats at Birmingham v Derby, and Sheff Wed v Barnsley for example. How is that explained?

I think it's more to do with the apathy of fans and their teams playing in a lower league.

Edit: by the way, Rotherham have doubled their attendance in 18 months since moving to their new stadium. If they can do it building a new stadium on some northern industrial wasteland, surely we can in what Boris Johnson had called London's answer to Manhattan.

Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

                      well

well football is all about opinion and i disagree with most of what facto wrote ,althopugh in fairness i dont go to many games so maybe i dont have the right to disagree
but i watched this game in a pub and i thought the rangers sang there heart out and i think with out austin we have no choice now but to attack,.if we go up ned will be one center half and we will buy two more
because dunne and hill wont hold world class strikers,if we get the 40 thousand all seater i think initially we may struggle to fill it but if we can keep things cooking on the field who knows what the future holds

so although im in disagreement with you the great factomondo,I STILL LOVE YOU MORE THAN MY PUSSYCAT

yes facto and tony hasn't done too bad a job so far with his gamble. would you rather we be sitting down the bottom of the division? we still have enough to to go up in 2nd, just about. doyle and maiga scoring on their debuts looks promising.
enjoy your sunday facto and stay positive old bean

As to Sheffield weds & Birmingham, what would the majority view of this forum be if Wednesday had released plans to move to a new 80k new stadium or Birmingham to 60k, doubling in essence is what we are planning.
Rotherham comparison fills me with hope.
What anyone says the planned move is unprecedented in both scale and ambition of any club I know, I hope it works out. The board appears happy to spend hundreds of millions on such an ambitious project and this must be applauded but it doesn't seem to tally in relation to spending on the squad which is generally been funded on out of contract and loan purchases. Abraovich spent over £120m and £100m on signings in his first two years and only once the club was established as a premiership giant that plans have turned to the stadium, I know our needs are different but the contrast in approach is massive.

Game was on telly therefore a number of people often opt to stay at home/go to pub to watch it rather than fork out to watch us.

I know that if I didn't have a season ticket I would watch our televised games to be perfectly honest.

an interesting cornucoupia of replies as usual chaps!.....i understand your rotherham comparison but i hardly think a 7million stadium in bleak northern outpost with 8000 fans is a yardstick for propsed multi hundred million pound investment!
