  • Hats off to the board-4 strikers in on deadline day and we should all feel optimistic

Who would have guessed that we would end up with 6 strikers (7 including Charlie) in the squad and 5 new faces on deadline day.

The board have gone for it and we should all sing TF name today and look forward to an exciting final part o the season.

I feel like we now have options which will bear fruit as the season goes on. Come on urrrssss I have a feeling that we can do it!

Some of our fans are really ungrateful as the last few days have shown its all want want want moan moan moan

For me TF and the board have made mistakes in the past but they have never let us down when it comes to making an effort to get the players in and for that I tip my hat

Sounds like a few deals we tried to do we pulled out of because of demands 12months ago we would have ploughed on so lessons learnt

Charlie Austin - out for the season
Zamora - a shadow of his former self
Johnson - good when he plays but made of glass and with two goals to his name
West Ham player - cd turn out to be good but three goals to his name (albeit in the Premier League)
Two or three kids who might turn out to be brilliant but so far totally unproven.

Its great you are optimistic and fans are every January transfer window on here. Its the month after that reality sets in. If Tony decided he had spent enough and couldn't face/ afford to chuck good money after bad I couldn't blame him. But if he was taking a calculated gamble that he didn't need a proven, established, fit goalscorer to get promoted - well, lets just come back in May and see who is right.

Can you tell us what we should have for breakfast, how we should be feeling about dredging rivers following the flooding, and how we should feel about the Sochi Olympics?

Ask for better support for the team by all means, telling people how grateful and optimistic they should feel is a different matter tbh

Completely agree, loans was the way forward, yes it may cost us a bit in wages, but at least we haven't splashed the cash for example £8m on Rhodes, not knowing if he can cut the mustard for us or not. At this level just because a player can score goals for his current team, does not say he can do the same for another team. Lessons learned, and well done to the board and Harry.

We all knew we were short in the striker department, and that is where the efforts have been concentrated. Let's give the new boys a chance

Mate I'm not telling anybody anything! I choose to be. Optimistic and grateful
That he board have given Harry choices, options and a depth of squad to see us through the rest of the season. However I can't see how any true fan can't feel excited with 6 new players in and a "freshen up" of the squad when. We are. Lying second and have less than half of the season to go.

Just think of this Burnley get Ings (or Vokes) injured and all of a sudden their season doesn't. Look so rosy what options do they have?!!

Honestly, well done the board on imo a good deadline day and window in general.

Donaldson/Dellatorre: Promising players for the future
Hughes: Experienced cover for 2 positions at the back.
Keane/Maiga/Doyle: Had Austin remained fit, we would have been pleased with this lot. Not prolific, but all can "do a job" and chip in with at least 5+ goals each before the end of the season. Hopefully one of them can step up now even more.

I dont believe we were ever in another big money forward. We found out Austin was out for the season on Weds/Thurs and I'm sure enquries were made (hence Defoe attempt) but I guess 2 days wasnt enough to sign a replacement. People may talk about Rhodes and Le Fondre, but who says they were ever for sale? Reading rejected a bid and it doesnt seem anyone officially went in for Rhodes.

The only downside is Cesar staying.

This is it now for the rest of a very important 2nd half to the season. Lets get behind the new signings and the team!!!

I think they did well with what was available to them, I think the failure of not shifting Cesar & co played a major part as to why we never bought anyone else, so they did really well.

The only mistake they made , however, was not buying Wells, that was a bargain and a player we could had done with.

I don't think we'll go up now this season with the loss of Austin as I can't see where the goals are going to come from but I hope we finish strongly and rebuild a better side for next season, but all in all a good window from us.

Cesar can still go and guessing if things continue to spiral we could actually still if all parties wanted it get McCormack on loan if he has big fall out at Leeds but I am happy with what we have

Got to say I'm more optimistic today. I don't like it when other fans think airing concerns over new signings is moaning or being spoilt.
I was yesterday very worried that the players we brought in are no where near Charlie's quality. We now have 5 average strikers who I hope through competition for a.starting place will up their game.

I still think we are a solid team just worry about goals. Midfield have shown they are not going to chip in.with many and tbf in recent weeks they don't create much. Charlie takes 1 or 2 of the few chances he gets - my worry is will the.others be.as.effective.

didn't we spend £20 million last January and still went down
spending bundles comes with no guarantees and quite often the players we're not excited about prove to be the better ones
                        Nelsen, Townsend, Dunne for example
Well done to TF for backing the manager AGAIN as he always does and let's get behind them and get back up

you say Cesar staying is a downside, but I disagree. if anything happens to Green QPR now dont need to rely on Murphy to cover or go into the loan market for some untried kid keeper.
