Smacks of desperation to be honest, he could be anything. My guess being nothing special but I just hope we've done our homework on him, which seems to be quite hard as he's done sweet fa in his short career.

Not making it in Portugal is a huge worry, I could be a top player over their, especially playing up front for Porto.

People banging on about Charlie playing for Poole. What's that got to do with it?!

We need someone proven NOW, not in a few years. If Charlie has done his shoulder again, we might not see him again until next season! If we're supposedly willing to shell out 5m for Ntep, I'd rather bite the bullet and bring in Rhodes for 8m.

Even players like Becchio, Fryatt and Wickham will be available for loan. Not exactly exciting players but they've all scored goals at this level and know what it's about.

Bang in a bid for Darren Bent at Villa. It would make sense as he's not in Villa's plans and currently on loan at a relegation rival in Fulham, so Villa would rather him be scoring goals for us than Fulham. Add to the fact Fulham are about to spend 12m on a striker, then he won't be getting a game their. Adam Le Fondre, probably the least likely but it would be interesting to see how Reading would react should we bid 3-4m for him.

All the above are better options than an untried foreigner.

So us going for Ntep was ok. So us going for Belfodil was ok. So why is us going for a player from a team (Atletico PR) not many are accustomed to ever hearing about not Ok. What if Tony said right **** you lot i'll sign no-one cos you're always criticizing when i try and improve the playing squad.Ii'm sure you would rather have him than have no-one. Keep Zamora and hardly use him or have someone who has speed, willing to actually move and above all is young and fit. I despair you lot sometimes. What if he turns out to be a mini Suarez or Aguero. Of course i may be wrong he may be cack but i'm damn sure we wouldn't be trying to sign him if he wasn't good enough. he deserves to be given a chance cos with you lot of doom mongers on his back will do him no good at all......rant over.

Who said it was ok to go for Ntep and Belfodil? I've said all along they will be gambles.

I've got nothing against this lad, I just feel there are far more safe options out there. I suppose there is no rush for the likes of Becchio, Fryatt and Wickham as the loan window opens again soon.

If he can't make the grade at Porto, I seriously doubt he'll be another Suarez or Aguero Jeff. He's 21 and done nothing. I'd rather get Hitchcock back and throw him in.

This signing smacks of desperation, no one can deny that.

i doubt very much if we just looked at him on youtube or on fifa and said 'lets go for him and take a punt'. i'd imagine we would have done some extensive homework on him. we've obviously not (as yet) gone for any of the other players mentioned as they are either gonna cost too much or harry just doesn't fancy them. i'm not saying it's going to work out well if we get him but it's gotta be better than keeping Zamors. i'd rather have someone young, fit and hungry than injury prone and not really interested when he does play. obviously he isnt going to be the finished article but probably Rhodes aside if all the other names mentioned were then they would be playing for they're clubs and not sitting the reserves or being loaned out all the time. Harry obviously likes something in him.

If he is Harry's selection, then give him a chance.

I hope we have done our homework, but as I said, he's done sweet fa in his short career, which is a massive worry and I'm not sure if you can do some extensive homework on someone like him. Time will tell but it's a massive gamble and one that is worrying following our recent transfer window acquisitions.

What's such a gamble about it?
