Ntep was pretty much done only for the same situation again like what happened with Hooper - his head was turned at the last minute by his agent. This is the problem the club is constantly coming up against. Agents have far too much control in the market these days. In general we aren't throwing massive money around like its constantly being reported in the press, in fact it's quite the opposite. The club has to draw the line somewhere unfortunately. Unless you find a player who is hell bent on joining you, you'll find their agents make public the approach in order to push up the numbers involved. Ntep was only a loan until the end of the season with a view to a perm deal and not for €6 or €7 million like was reported in the press.
Its a problem most clubs are coming up against, this window is driven by the media and is a complete nightmare for clubs because players agents know they can hang this out till the last hours of deadline day to see who twitches first, i would think qpr are waiting on 2or3 names but can never be sure until they sign on that dotted line, like you say the French lad was done so you cant blame the club when he decides to pull out at the 11th hour its just how it works now, this window should never be open. in-between seasons is when you should do your dealings and only loans allowed during a season, imo.

Realistically though.. we should have a striker in by now
We could and would have a striker in if it was that straightforward. Harry's never going out to buy a Rhodes type of player - not even a Wells because the former is a first choice, bang 'em in for fun and cost millions type and the latter wants to become that. Both want to and probs deserve to be one of the first names on the team sheet. It seems H wants cover and/or a plan B type of striker.
Can you imagine sitting round the table with a Rhodes type and saying, it's going to cost £12M plus mega wages but you will get the odd start when Charlie can't play or maybe 10 minutes at the end if we are chasing the game? Same applies to an upstart like Wells who went kind of sideways to Uddersfiled because he gets more money, plays every week and doesn't have to worry about not being good enough if his team gets promoted.
Easy to sign players are only easy if you are a mid table, going nowhere, want to rack 'em and stack 'em type of Club - which I'm sure none of us wants to be any longer

When will we ever learn to avoid going for French players?? Every Club want them.
Why do people always say left it to late, its not the clubs fault you cant hold a gun to the head of an agent and make a player sign, they play this game all over the world in this month , has nothing to do with the clubs, players wont sign until they believe they have the best deal possible, and that will be on deadline day or close to it.
Left it to late again and on top of that we search for players in the wrong parts of the world. I dont think we will ever learn!!!
A shame!
Have we? This daffodil bloke from Inter for example, apparently we have been working on it for something like 6 weeks - hardly leaving it too late. As for learning over French players, with that attitude we would not have signed Remy and no one can dig the Club for that deal.

The problem is that we have some fans who are impatient and want us to be signing players on the 1st January with no thought given to the mechanics behind any signings.
Trouble is that then they'll spend the whole of the transfer window moaning that the players we'd signed were no good and we should have held out for better options. Sometimes you can't win...

Good answer Blue.
Harry also acknowledged we have been winning without playing well yet. He knows what we need.

Exactly that mate - the lunatics have taken over the asylum

You can't do anything if the parent club refuses to sell, nor we wont just sign anyone, so what do you expect us to do? Transfers are so complex these days. It's not just about targeting a name and going for them. A huge amount of background work and investigation is done into players. Then also the player has to be interested in joining you too. It's not about us not learning, because we have massively and the hard way. Those mistakes won't happen again. Which players who have moved on this window would you have said that we should of signed then?
