  • A few championship promotion stats....

Over the last 9 years, average points total to be champions has been 91.666.
Average points total for second place has been 85.222.

only once I would say have the two promoted teams dominated the league when Newcastle got 102 and WBA got 91.
If it wasnt for that year the averages would be lower.

I always thought that our points aim should be 90. In which case only one year (WBA) would that not be enough.

So - 38 points needed...we'd be unlucky to miss out with that total.

11 wins 5 draws? out of the next 20 games...or 12 wins 2 draws?...13 wins no draws? with ten home games left..

what does everyone think? Thoughts please.
    First game ; QPR 1 Bolton Wanderers 3, Saturday 2nd December 1978.

I think we will defo get an auto spot due to our consistency, it seems some other teams have a good run and are going to be the ones to watch, ie Derby, Wigan Leeds etc and then fall away again, I think we will get 40 points minimum from remaining games so nailed on.

If we keep averaging 2 points a game like we have for most of the season and up to this point now then we should be in the top two.

This season is not conforming to the average so far.

At this stage in our promotion season, the table leading positions were

          QPR 49, Swansea 46, Cardiff 44.

          Currently:

          Leicester 57, QPR 52, Burnley 51...

If form over 26 games persists for the next 20 games, the table will be:

          Leicester 101, QPR 92, Burnley 90.

Past performance is no indication of future prospects but it is clear that this season is completely different from our promotion winning season.

I reckon just take each game as it comes and concentrate on ourselves instead of our rivals. The aim is to continue to average 2pts per game, which we are doing.

exactly. however im worried about whether we can keep our momentum going over a weeks break from playing next weekend. although maybe not playing sheff wed is a blessing after their past 2 results
i supported qpr in the glory days when chris kiwomya and michael ngonge played up front

One thing is for certain. I think we can safely say that we won't be going down. If we can get a decent striker in then I think we should go up. But not counting any chickens yet.

This. 90 points should be the target, anything over 85 and we'd be unlucky not to Auto (imo).

Over the last 20 years, 2 pts a game has guaranteed promotion.

reading romped this lge a few years back....set a record?
anyway..we need to aim for 90pts...85pts is the back up, if we keep winning , albeit with 3 home games on the trot....we apply pressure first on burnley playing catch up and maybe secondly on leics
home games are vital so why our support needs a jerk to liven up stuns me.....but when the cobwebs are off, the place is rocking.
