I think the point Pete is trying to make is would you feel comfortable playing in front of a crowd that are likely to boo you and get on your back for the tiniest little mistake?
I've read so many posts on here recently saying things like "the players and the fans seem much more distanced than in recent seasons" and "the players just don't play for the fans like they used to"!
Not really suprising when we spend most of the matchday booing them and then come on here the rest of the week and slate them to anyone who would care to listen.
I understand why the fans are p*ssed off. The football isn't good enough and the tickets are overpriced,
At the end of the day though things will not improve while we give the team and the manager such a hard time.
I'd love for the atmosphere at Loftus Road to be like it was prior to Briatore and his stupid Boutique Football. Unfortunately there is nothing we can do about the silly ticket prices and the ridiculous way that Briatore and his cronies choose to spend our hard earned cash......but what we can do is try and get behind our team and create an atmosphere where the players feel they can come and play some football.
Remember the good old days where the fans at Loftus Road were the 12th man......I can remember games at Loftus Road where we were getting absolutely stuffed but we were still singing at the final whistle.
I don't suppose there is much hope of seeing that any time soon but I hope that at least a few people on here understand the sentiments of my post!
I'm not sure any of our players (except Rowlands/Ainsworth/Cook) have played for us when the crowd have been well and truly behind the team.
Going back 4 or 5 years we ended up winning a lot of games from behind and the crowd were a huge factor. I can't remember the last time we were really like that.
It is a viscious circle really, the players are paid to entertain and win games, and when the don't the crowd become quiet and down and then that reflects back on the players who continue to play badly.
The problem we all have now is Expectation. We expect to be good enough to win games and when we don't the downside is so much worse.
Players have not been booed during a game this season. If they play sh1t then the team in general get booed at the end. I haven't booed this season, but the football is dire.
First game: Arsenal vs Queen's Park Rangers at Highbury, Saturday 17th November 1984.
played amateur football for years, and was nervous before every game, probably took about 3 toms before kick off.being a supporter is far easier.5 or 6 pints pre match settles any nerves.if i had the pleasure to play for the mighty hoops in reality more bog roll would be the order of the day,to play in front of a handful of people is one thing and to play at hackney marshes is another. ha ha
