  • Queens Park Rangers find themselves favourites for the signature of £8m rated Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes, despite interest from West Ham United and Nottingham Forest.

BetVictor have significantly slashed the odds for Queens Park Rangers to land Blackburn Rovers striker Jordan Rhodes this January.

The Hoops are now priced at just 6/4 to land the wanted striker, whilst other interested parties West Ham (6/1) and Nottingham Forest (8/1) fall some way behind.

    • This is the view from my Blackburn supporting brother in law;

Local rag last week said 12m is the minimum we'd consier which makes more sense. We got him for 8m and he's better and more proven now (best striker in the league in my opinion) while still having 2.5 years to run. Also, without him who's going to score goals so we'll have to buy anyway.
I expect him to leave in the summer if we don't go up, but his next move should be guaranteed premiership rather than championship promotion hopefuls. He's easily good enough to do well in any of the bottom 10 premiership sides.

The financial fair play thing is interesting. I think we're screwed anyway, so were probably better not selling our star players and hoping for a promotion rather than sell them and get a transfer embargo anyway. If we get promoted we're still screwed on the financial side, but i think it's less of an issue as the prem and league rules are different

As normal, i'm just hoping we get through the window relatively unharmed!

Don't use those as an example. I made a fortune backing and laying Hooper during the BOOOOMMMM-GATE Saga.

                  How does that work then?

People betting on him to join off the back of your thread?

Forgive me for asking but have no idea what sort of bet you are talking about.

                  • Rhodes is outstanding. Worth every penny of whatever we pay. The guys on for big things
                    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
                    And many more mistakes

Sorry if stating the obvious, but on somewhere like Betfair, as well as backing a particular thing to happen, you can also back against it happening.

Most common example is laying the draw at the start of a match. If a goal is scored, odds on draw usually get longer, so you can back that and be in profit regardless of the outcome.

Lend Tony the 12m and I'm sure he will!

You make it sound like we've already tabled a bid and it's a done deal. I like your optimism!

But, if we get Ntep for £5m, Rhodes would be an unnecessary luxury.

                              • The sad factor to all of this is that it is an exact replica of Hooper and Le Fondre. We could had bought them for £1.5m when they were available on the cheap, now we have to pay £8m.

It's crazy and wrong, I hope Tony doesn't go for it, and I could make the same case with Wells.
