  • wingers should cross more and shoot less imo

Half a season gone and the wingers have scored about 5 goals between em -

Now Charlie is very good in the air and seems to make something out of the few decent crosses he has received

so if the wingers stay wide and go down the touch line and cross the ball to the penalty spot... imo those crosses will produce more goals than all the the cutting in and shooting from the wide players

I agree mate, I think if we sign another striker we need another decent left winger who can bomb down the flanks and whip a decent ball in!

Toilett is right footed, which is why he keeps cutting inside. If we could get a leftie, or someone who could use their left foot to cross, Toilett would possibly be better off in the center and doing his daft runs there. Possibly.

Phillips does run up the right and puts crosses in and is getting better in this area each match.

In summation, we're in need of a left winger and one or two strikers.

Or just put better quality crosses in for players

Better quality crosses assumes that there are crosses being put in. It's the lack of crosses, bad or good that's the problem.

I think 'Arryboy knows this which is why we're seeing Traore now and then.

And the pope should be catholic..... Seriously, the op makes a good point. I can't understand why Harry and the team can't see it. And our wingers should go outside to put in a cross rather than inside to make a shot. Perhaps by playing each on the side they favour might help. I can guarantee that Holiett, if played on the left, would never cut in. Charlie might get some service then...

I think Traore has a crafty joint in the bogs before every match.

I don't think it is to do with being right footed or instructions from the manager - when AJ plays he plays wide as a winger, Traore plays as a winger, the overlapping FBs play wide as wingers, the ones not playing as wide wingers are the wingers.

I get that the wingers want to score goals, I get that Charlie might have fallen flat, but half a season is plenty enough time to make a judgement - the wingers aint scoring and Charlie looks a monster in the air - they got to supply him to give him a chance.

My eyes say the wingers cut in 80% and cross from wide 20% of the time - they need to try it the other way around and cross more shoot less - get wide and cross it to the penalty spot, give Charlie a chance at it. See how he does, aint scoring with all the cutting in and I think he would do great with 20 good crosses per game.

Wasn't Austin's majority of goals from heading last season? I believe it was which is why it frustrates me to see us always never playing to the strikers preference. Like with aj we whip crosses in FFs and lump the ball at him, with Austin we always play it at his feet.

I can understand the thinking behind it, we've not exactly scored a lot of goals and the goals we have scored are mostly coming from Austin. So telling the midfield to shoot more made sense, BUT its soon come apparent that they cant shoot for $hit (especially the likes of Hoilet).
I agree with what everyone else is saying. Just keep whipping the balls in the box and let the main man do the rest.

I think if we can get a good midfielder on the left in. With him on the left and Phillips on the right whipping balls into Austin and hopefully another striker we should tally our goals up and look good for the rest of the season.

So true. Personally, I have given up on them in that respect.
