Anyway............
Here's a couple of postcards from the exhibition
The buildings on the left there look like the long buildings there, albeit 20 years of London soot later
I'll try and find a map.
Also White City in 1906.
Wow, it's quite a sight loooking at old mid-19th century maps at how much of London was open countryside or farmland.Last edited by DeepcutHoop; 09-01-2014, 01:45 PM.

There you go, it was the end of the exhibiton buildings from 1908. I wonder what they were being used for then, or whether they were empty?
Edit: Superb document on the Exhibition here. http://www.greatwhitecity.com/images/exhibition.pdfLast edited by DeepcutHoop; 09-01-2014, 02:01 PM.

The late 1930s saw
the London County Council commence
construction of the White City Estate on
part of the site of the White City Exhibition,
with street names recalling the pavilions
representing the countries of the British
Empire. An entirely new community of more
than 2,000 dwellings was proposed as well
as shops, churches, schools and community
facilities, but completion was delayed by the
outbreak of World War Two.

It's unreal a place like that was there and now no trace at all. If it was still around I'm sure it would be protected.
