Buffalo - WE ARE INEFFECTIVE. We have one striker who scores out goals! 10th top scorer in the champ - were not in the top 5 for goals scored where as Derby, Leicester and Burnley are and were boring as hell to watch.

I get you love Harry and the job his doing, a lot of fans do.. and this is not a Harry bash so don't get so defensive SO easily of him.

Im saying were ineffective with how were playing going forward and we need another striker to actually score some goals which help you win games and not draw them.
I don't disagree that we are poor lately. Absolutely agree that we don't score enough and we need more goals to come from midfield and the rest of the team - I've posted exactly that in another thread just this morning.

I'm also not being defensive. I don't love Harry at all, and the bashing comment wasn't aimed specifically at you, mostly at Bill tbh.

Maybe I am misunderstanding but your original point was that our system is ineffective. I agree that lately, we, as a team, have been ineffective. But, we have been playing the same system for virtually the whole season, so it's not necessarily the system that's at fault. Using the same system over most of 24 games has been effective. Lately though, the players haven't been putting a shift in for me. Like at Everton, I think they have begun to think that they are better than they are. Seems like we agree on the main points, but maybe not on why it's happening.

Thinking about it some more, and knowing what HR was like at Spurs, could it be that HR is well aware of the lack of pace and that is why he plays the system that he does? Hopefully he can address things this window but fark knows how, and I doubt he will be able to sign enough pace to change the system. Just my thoughts on the matter.

Thankyou WLR,at least someone agrees with me that we are ineffective.I'm starting virtually every game now thinking we're going to lose or at best draw. The warning signs are there unless we improve considerably.

Exactly gee.. Im not saying Harry out etc etc etc.. because he shouldn't be judged now but we need to improve as a team.. we have NO pace.
Harry can dress the 4-5-1 argument up all he wants but I wish he would just say 'im doing it cos I like it'..
Because He only ever played 4-5-1 at the Spuds, Lennon, adebayor and bale were his front 3

But we can't buy until we sell.

Which is why there has been no activity.

Didnt he play Adebayor with Defoe for a number of games? I know they played a lot together but Redknapp preferred to have Van Der Vaart playing behind a lone striker until he went off on one about being a sub.

I do agree that we have been struggling recently to score goals, but the bigger concern for me is that we struggle to create chances. I personally sit right in the middle of the "harry bashing" and the "harry love in". Playing 2 up top doesnt guarentee more chances. Im happy to stick with Charlie up top, but think we need to get him a centre mid who regually gets into the box and past him and another winger alongside phillips who can chip in with goals.

I actually thought that midfielder who could get forward was Jenas at one stage. He played really well in an advanced postion for a few games and chipped in with a few goals, but he seemed to drop out of favour and hasnt really been given the chance to play that way again. Not saying by any stretch of the imagination that jenas is the answer to our goal scoring problems, but id be quite happy if we went out and bought a winger and a decent AMC.

I saw somewhere that Hoolahan had requested a transfer. Always like him as a player and would be worth a punt IMO. thoughts?

Yea weren't it.. adbayor, Vdv, lennon, bale, modric, parker?.. 4-5-1 works there because of the pace beyond adebayor, as well as the talent!

His sticking to his 4-5-1 principles like at spuds but surely he sees how different that spuds line-up is to what he has at his exposal with us?!
With a limited team with no pace, surely he realises 442 is best?

4-5-1 works when you have bale, lennon, modric, VdV and Parker in the midfield !

That's what im saying haha.. we keep the ball well but don't have the pace in midfield to join Austin and go past Austin to help him score goals..
Hence, the next highest scorer in our team is our next most attacking player.. Matty Phillips
