With the manager, owner and plans for the future we have, plus being premiership bownd, I struggle to see how the likes of Maynard and Kenwyne Jones are the best realistic signings we have. that is why the likes of these names get a negative reaction.

Still very very early days in this transfer window.

Think its just pretty apparent that the board aren't going to splash £10m or so on a Rhodes after all the money they have already wasted. Harry doesn't seem to trust younger players (perhaps wrongly). Jelavic is clearly wanted but its going to be a struggle to persuade him to come. Many of the fans who complain about Jones wd be the same fans complaining on the morning after transfer deadline and we miss out on Jelavic: "I can't believe the club didn't have a plan b". Harry is looking at Cole at West Ham and now Jones - the profile is clearly someone who is on the periphery of a Prem club who has a proven goal-scoring record and is cheap.

Lets be honest. Most of the strikers we have been linked with are shite. Carlton Cole left West Ham in the summer and couldn't even find a club so they took him back because they was desperate. Jones isn't much better and Maynard was good about 4 years ago. We need goals and we want someone who just score goals right? So in that sense i think spending the money to get Jordan Rhodes to LR instead of pissing about with someone who might be cheaper or whos played premiership football and turn out like Zamora. Rhodes would score the goals to get us into the Prem and after all thats the main aim this season for the board and arry.

At this stage it as all just paper talk. HR is no novice when it comes to transfers and im sure he's got a plan "b, c & d" he's been in this game for many years and we all know that there's going to be names he's put forward to TF that only they will know about.

There's a difference between having a PROVEN goal-scoring record and a goal-scoring record and KJ has a goal-scoring record. I have trust in HR and the board that we can do a lot lot better than KJ

No he wouldnt because he's a striker (apparently) who doesnt know where the goal is. In other words he's a waste of space playing as a striker..... No better than Zamora from that perspective.

.....think the key word in that is "tenuously". Still think KJ would be a good signing though!

Jones is big strong and quick maybe Harry see's him as a natural replacement for Zamora. I rekon that would take us back to the 4-4-2 system he seemed to want to play before he realised Zamora was pony. My guess would be 1 of Crouch Jones or Cole and somebody like Wells if we were to manage to get rid of Johnson
