  • Cesar playing tomorrow?

I rather give Murphy a chance. He's been loyal number 2 and deserves this opportunity, rather than player who's not our plans

Speculation from far away or just clutching at straws?
If Green is injured (and H made no such references this morning) then yes, Murphy should step up and I'd rather not have a keeper on the bench than a mercenary that didn't want to stay and play.
Also, if he plays he will be cup tied which would reduce the attraction to any PL side, not that anyone seems to want him anyways

Think he would be v happy to play, he just isn't picked! If we are paying the Brazil number 1 goalkeeper a fortune, we might as well use him when we need him - and who knows, might help get him in the shop window...

Need to put Cesar in the window though, also should frustrate Green which I think is a good thing, means he'll be more stronger then ever
        Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
        And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

Still can't believe that Brazil's number 1 Cesar is still here...at rangers...in the second tier of english football. More strangely playing reserve football at Harlington each week!

As highly as I rate him he really needs to move on to a champions league side, he won't play for us again this season. Green and Murphy are our first and second choice keepers now, changing that would ruin their and the rest of the team's confidence in harry.

Should Green be rested it would be very, very poor form not to play Murphy at Everton after he's bench sat all season. Would be very damaging to morale. We don't owe Cesar a thing. Let him rot in the development squad until someone wants to buy him/ he accepts a realistic wage deal from a new team.

The problem with putting Cesar in the shop window tomorrow is he quite likely will have a weakened side in front of him and may be made to look bad, on the other hand he could stand on his head and help his value but I think the former is more likely! When I saw him in Toronto in November he didn't have much to do vs Chile, his distribution was good still!

Put him in the shop window for sure, John Lewis is good..... Just dont put him on the pitch tomo.

Give Murphy the jersey v Toffees.

I slightly feel sorry for Cesar, he was generally ok and it to me is just an unfortunate signing.
Unlike Remy and Samba, Cesar was bought in the summer so was probably sold by the club a long term plan. I think he got a 4 year contract and massive wages, it was clear from the off that wages were important to him as inter were going through the process of cutting wages. So everyone including our board knew the importance of the contract and its quantum.
However Remy and Samba who are kind of the only other equivalent signings (real big names) were acquired in the January transfer window when we were fire fighting to trying at all cost to stay in the prem, so those players clearly got clauses or assurances that if we went down they wouldn't be locked in and actually that's what's happened, doesn't appear either Remy or Samba took any financial or professional hits from joining us, however Cesar is in a different boat.
However as much we can blame Cesar, we sold him most probably a lie that we would be an established premiership side but in fact it became worrying clear that under MH we remained a joke, remember how poor and ill disciplined we were, at times we weren't even a League 1 team. Cesar standing behind our defence (if it was a defence) was on occasions just getting bombarded by opposition strikes.
Cesar never did anything disastrously wrong and a few games was excellent but he was given most probably a life changing contract, in the same way Barton got but unlike Barton the club don't need Cesar and so to be in Cesars shoes he might feel the one that was let down.

As soon as it looked like we were gonna get relegated last season he basically downed tools and gave up. Bloke has been prossing himself all over the place since but no mug is willing to pay his stupid wages and he refuses to leave for less.

                    He doesn't deserve my sympathy.

He's had offers, his agent has said as much.

Yes I agree, unless a club comes in for a loan signing but keepers as good and high profile as him would need to play and not many teams would want to unsettle their existing goal keeping position or defence for just a few months. In that way a goalkeeper is much more difficult to loan out then out field players.
I never understood why after we purchased Green, such a purchase was dreamt up and authorised by the club, it was bizarre at the time and you reap what you sow.
I just can't dislike Cesar as I do other acquisitions under the Hughes regime.
