  • Helping Ourselves From Set Pieces

This is something I think we could make ourselves more effective at and give ourselves a better chance of scoring from.

At the current time I question if we practice set pieces or throw in' as at the current time we look ineffective we never look like were going to get on the end of one. When you have dominant people in the air like Dunne, Nedum and Hill for me put the ball on the penalty spot let them have a run at it and plant it on the head but we never hit our big men.

Also the amount of times we give away the ball from a throw in and turn being on the attack in the opposition half too defending a break away is scary, it happened at Watford when we had a throw by their corner flag and 15secs later Deeny was having a shot on goal

Also the short corner again results in the ball not going in the box and costing an opportunity to create a chance is becoming frustrating

Things like throw ins and set pieces should offer us an advantage as its play in the game which can be pre arranged were not making the most of these at the current time

No movement in the box from set pieces, very static and don't lose the defenders to get in front of them

Can't remember seeing 3 of our players in the box when we've been attacking for the past 3 years. Set pieces must be a little disconcerting for them, being in a strange place and all.

Putting in a cross is a very dangerous thing to do. You might end up losing possession. Far better to just tap it back to the half way line because the opposition are almost certainly, and very foolishly, all in their own penalty area to defend an attempt at goal.

              It's a no brainer isn't it?

If you don't look like scoring in open play then best make sure your set pieces are up to scratch. It was driving me crazy up at Watford the other day when we were playing corners short, what on earth is the point? That game could have lasted for 2 weeks and we still wouldn't have scored in open play. Get the big lads up and get a decent cross in!
