Diakite is exactly what we need in our midfield. As said by many people, if we are to play with one striker, the midfield needs to push up and that is what he brings to the game. I remember his first game for us against Fulham, before he got sent off, one thing i noticed is that his positioning was spot on but his timing was poor. This seems to be the case with this player. He is a hard worker and puts in a solid defensive shift when needed but if we play him deep alongside Barton, I think our midfield would be perfect, Barton to be efficient defensively and creatively and diakite to hassle and push and effectively force everyone to do so. One key factor that was missing in his second season here was Barton. We were playing Diakite alongside park or m'bia or granero and the issue wit that is they aren't as all round as Barton. Yes, granero could create but he couldn't cover for Diakite's bursts and it left us exposed. With Park and M'bia, there was a lot of hustle in the midfield but no player to actually play an accurate pass forward. Give him a chance in a holding midfield role with Barton and i think we may see the Diakite of old."What stats allow you to do is not take things at face value. The idea that I trust my eyes more than the stats, I just don't buy that because I've seen magicians pull rabbits out of hats and I know I just know that rabbit's not in there." - Billy Beane

Harry would rather stick with Carroll who has not created a single chance or had a worthwhile attempt on goal since he has been with us, but Spurs "rate" him so automatically plays every game. Or Krancjar who cannot run or penetrate and looks about a stone overweight. But he was at Spurs AND Pompey so is a shoe in for every single game.

Does the bloke even train with the first team anymore? seen plenty of training pics and i have never noticed him there before...
They both seem to have some fans here. Unbelievable. People remember only those 2-3 lucky run from Diakite and that great goal against Arsenal. The rest of the time he was like a headless chicken on ice.Last edited by Timmy the Doc; 30-12-2013, 05:17 PM.

Please enlighten us all on Hoiletts last good game, O'Neills last good game. Shaun Wright Phillips last good game. All getting plenty of game time this season.
Waiting patiently.
