Weak excuse for Barton's lack of discipline. If he stopped trying to ref the game himself, and just got on with the game like everyone else, he might draw less attention.

Yeah but you see players every week chatting to the ref. The camera close ups on Vardy & Nugent left nothing to the imagination as to what swear words were used
yet he just let it go. Joey's rep and profile attracted this muppet imo. He'll be telling people in 30 years how he "didn't take no s**t from then bad boy Joey Barton....he showed him who was boss"

Whatever, nothing Joey does seems ever to be his own fault. It's always someone else, the opposition, his teammates, the ref, the media, the nasty managers that don't like him.

He needs to man up, and take responsibility when he f***s up. He's been doing the business this season, but his inability to keep his mouth shut got him the red card today.

Agree with Dave. Sat very close to pitch in paddocks & heard Nugent & Vardy hammering the ref he shouts 'get on with it' when Barton was involved Jesus Christ he couldn't reach for the card quick enough. Barton should have been wiser but true what Dave says.

We've no idea what Joey said in that initial incident. For the ref to have called Clint over, suggests it was worse than simply shouting 'F*** off*

There was an interview with a ref recently about being sworn at, and the gist was that the refs expect a certain level of swearing, but only react to it if it starts going from '**** off ref', to 'You're a f***ing cheat' or something similar. Nobody expects them to be angels, and yes Joey's reputation goes before him (one that he has earned don't forget), but even if you grant him that much, he should be experienced enough not to behave like a kid while he's being booked by a ref that has already given him a warning for dissent.

I've enjoyed watching Joey this season, he's been excellent. He is still a booking waiting to happen pretty much at all times.

That's a fair post. As you said we don't know what was said. I initially thought at the game he was sent off for a second booking for kicking the ball at GTF. Maybe I was wrong.

I reckon JB's head goes every so often. Not as often as before, but as seen today his temperament is still there. It's probably a build up
of a lot of things that eventually snaps.
The problem being the consequence of split reactions.
It's a case "Oh **** what did I do that for again?"
I've been there and can still wear the T-Shirt.... no one is perfect.

I think it may well have been for that nominally, but he was obviously on a tightrope for dissent, and as such kicking the ball at the bloke you've just fouled, as the ref is booking you, is not really defensible.

Yeah should be wiser i agree too, but football is highly competitive and emotional and since JB has come back he has shown alot of maturity imo compared to his past.
I just think deep, he gets different treatment to other players from some refs

Maybe, but it's a well-earned reputation, and unfair or not, he should not be giving the refs excuses.

Today for example, he was ranting in the referees face for a free-kick decision he wasn't even involved with. He doesn't react like that, and very likely the situation later in the game doesn't happen. Harry and Clint need to get him to wind his neck in, especially when it doesn't concern him.

Vardy screamed at the lino calling him a cu&t first half. All of the Ellerslie near the loft heard it.

it could be argued that if Vardy called the ref a c u next tues in the 1st half, and the ref didnt particularly like it... then players should know not to provoke him further, especially someone that's hated (with reason or without) like Joseph Barton

it's stuff 5 year old kids know. If your lil brothers just gone and kicked the hornets nest, you dont want to go up next and give it another whack with a stick!!!
many of you on here have kids, and im sure your kids know the same thing when they see daddy come home sulking after a bad day at work. yet you think Joey can get away with it.
                              nonsense...
I stick by my comment in the match thread: Joey is a child!

and to those of you replying "yeah, refs dont always make sense", I say yeAH!?? wot of it!?? week after week, every English football fan bemoans the questionable refereeing. Nothing's going to get done. We will still be playing with a man down, and Joey will still be suspended. The only reprehensible approach is to prescribe our boy Joey a chill pill.

he killed off our only hope of getting back in the game today, in which we were quite good, just unlucky

Fair point i spose, although he would say it concerns him as it effects his team, but i see your point
