  • Losing My Religion

I heard this song on the radio this morning. As well as being a great tune,it got me thinking about the RRss and how i feel about the club that I have followed through thick and thin for 35 years.
I now enjoy the pre and post match drinks with mates more than the game itself-Why??Well it seems to me that the players are not connected with us fans as they were in the past, and they just don't seem that bothered.
I also get the distinct impression that that the "Powers that be"at our club are not entirely sure what they want to achieve through owning QPR.
However,I will be there on Tuesday night, hoping for a bit more commitment from the players, and a victory.
If it is a repeat of the last few games, however, then I am in severe danger of "losing my religion".

i know where ur coming from, been goin for 20 years and it does seriously feel like the players dont give a ****, maybe that has been the case for many players down the years but for pretty much the whole team to be this way is quite shockin

I agree with you mate, I used to love going to QPR and now that buzz has evaporated.

All I want from the players is to give 100% and play with real passion for the badge, if we do that and don't win, what more can anyone ask?

Ells, I know what you mean, and I've been thinking about this quite a lot lately, too. Thing is, the more I think about it, the more I come to realise that this is just football in the 21st century, which is not the game I fell in love with as a nipper. And I think QPR is also not the same club I fell in love with either.
I have had some of the best days of my life through QPR, and I've made some of the best friends I'll ever have, and for that I'm very thankful.
Like you, I'm finding that the pre/post match meets are better than the actual games, but in my 40+ years of watching the Rs, well that happens sometimes I guess. What makes it harder to take at the moment is that we have bought LOADS of players over the last couple of years, and given the talent at our disposal now, we should AT LEAST be coming out of the ground having been ENTERTAINED, and frankly that is not happening. Which will change eventually (when? fck knows)
I am also at a loss to know what the owners want to achieve from owning QPR. That Newcastle are in the same Division as us having spent zillions down the years may have made them realise that "the project" may be too much of a gamble, who knows?
For me, I will never "lose my religion", neither will you, but like I said the whole sport is different these days. I feel the lack of togetherness between players and fans is at an all-time low, not just at QPR either, and it is only worse in the so-called Promised Land of the Prem.

Fawny, you are of course quite correct in that we will not actually lose our religion, but the passion may have just become a little dulled which would be a great shame when we think back over the years and the roller-coaster ride that is being a QPR fan.

i think things are changing for me in the aspect of i used to sulk if QPR drew or lost to teams like posh....now i just expect it and pass it off as another boring week......this is not good because it now means i have to find the passion again......but cannot see it with the club as it is.

probably because they had to put too much in the collection tray and get nothing back

Could not agree more. The passion is slowly be drained away and its definitely happening to me too.

From fans infighting with each other, to performances on the pitch, its not the same compared to even a few years ago. I find the place uncomfortable on a personal level, I put myself out there to be shot, but end of the day we all support the same team and when we lose, I'm absoultely gutted, coming out the ground I know I'll get some clever ****** having a verbal with me !!. I don't pick the team and am just as pished off as anyone else and slowly falling out of love with it all.
ALL BEST BANTER AND ALL THE LATEST FROM QPR.

perhaps now pete you can see why some people are so negative......when your passion for the club, even the game is being killed off slowly by something out of your control it is very hard to be positive.

After having seen the last episodes(?) of "The Tudors" I actually feel more tempted about visiting The:electric_shock: Tower:grimace: than Loftus Road.
All I know is that it shouldnt have to be like that. :red_heart::red_heart:
