Weren't spurs 12pts clear when harry's name came up for the england job? Harry seemed to get carried away by it and they blew the champions league spot. Any chairman would/should have sacked him. I don't think the FA would have given it to him anyway because of rumours about his dealings. He got away with that court case on the back of the publicity about the england job.

Levy's only got himself to blame for this season's predicament. He stalled and stalled on Bale, acting the big man to get the best price for a few million more, and left AVB no real time to get players in. Plus AVB likes to play a high defender line which he did at Porto, and didn't have time to do at chelsea. Team tactic changes take time in some clubs.

Regular champion league teams from major countries are generally well equipped squad-wise to deal with all the extra games. Same number of games roughly as the EUFA league. Except that the teams that end up qualifying are usually 5th, 6th best? in their respective leagues.

They then have severe problems adapting to all the extra games which impacts on their league position. Newcastle last year, Swansea this, after performing well the previous season. It's like the league and FA cups to clubs like us flirting with either promotion or relegation. Priorities first, except the fans want this and the fans want that. The EUFA cup is a nightmare for middling clubs.

Yes I would say that was one of if not the biggest mistakes of Levy's footballing career.

I sincerely doubt Levy holds any regrets. That would involve emotion. Successful business people of that level (we're talking hundreds of millions of £ turnover here) view such decisions without emotion, and would only take a philosophical view in hindsight.

I dont really know if w12 is negative all the time or not, but reading this thread alone, i cant really see what everyone is getting so worked up about. He is actually spot on with SPUDS & HR at that time. They had an awful run towards the end of the season and should have had 3rd place done and dusted. not sure if it had anything to do with HR being linked to England or not, but that was the reason Spuds let him go.

Seeing as he is being accused of having a dig at HR, can someone please show me where this comment is?

You are using a straw man argument here. I have zero problem with his views on HR or TF, but he keeps insinuating or plainly stating that some other posters are idiots, etc., and this hostility will not be tolerated, as you yourself already know only too well.

Well he probable does regret it now, he wasn't happy with Redknapp with 4th spot as levy wanted top 2. But now AVB has gone, Spurs have to start all over again from scratch.

IMO They should had stuck with AVB until the end of the season and make a decision then because if you look at at the moment Spurs are in a good position in the league with loads of games to play.

An awful run, an awful run is ending up bottom half or relegation. You mob who aint keen on harry just see things one way, sacking a manager for coming fourth and the highest they had finished in years and probably will not finish that high again in decades, was truly deserved. Ha ha ha ha ha ha . How many other clubs of spurs size and spending pre bale, have ever sacked their manager for coming fourth in the premiership? None id guess. But it was deserved. Just read that Spurs got 19 points from their final 14 league games in HR last season there. They effectively blew getting into the champions league because of this poor run of results (I understand they finished fourth), that is the sole reason he was let go. Thats lower half table form. Not too sure why you feel you have to go back and support his whole career??? He is doing a fantastic job at QPR now and not one person in this thread has said otherwise

It was a harsh sacking whoever the manager was, spurs were not like they are this season after the bale money and fourth was more than good enough, even though it was a bad run of form toward the end and like you say they should of finished third. But these things happen, and finishing fourth was a great achievement to which no manager should of been sacked. And has been proved so since, and will do for a while , even after a 100 million plus spending and them being nowhere near finishing that high again. Hence another 'harsh' sacking.
