Harry Redknapp believes Benoit Assou-Ekotto is one of the three best left-backs in England.

The Cameroon international was out of favour under manager Andre Villas-Boas at Tottenham, enabling Redknapp to sign him on a season-long loan.

Assou-Ekotto was a regular in the Spurs side when the R’s boss was in charge at White Hart Lane and now finds himself playing in the Championship.

But Redknapp insisted: “He’s in the top three left-backs in the country. He’s too good for most teams in the Premier League.

“He’s a top player and never missed a game for me at Tottenham, where he was my left-back. He played in every game – in the Champions League quarter-finals.

“There’s only Ashley Cole and Baines you’d take in front of him maybe. I couldn’t think of too many others. He’s top-class and could play in any team.”

I think everyone except AVB would agree with Harry on this one. Lets hope who ever takes over at spurs takes note of the picture and doesn't call him back.

Year long loans that involve a fee for the loan are not subject to recalls, but that I don't know.

If there is no fee involved, the player can be recalled but only during the January transfer window.

All blown out of proportion - as a lot of stuff on twitter is.

I'd expect BAE to be recalled immediately IF there is an option to do so. The bloke is miles better than ALL of Spurs' left back options.

hardly going to say he is 2bob if he's just signed him

According to the poster Nodge70 on dot.org it seems he COULD be on his way.
Nodge70 is/has been regarded an expert on Spurs. Dunno how much ITK he is concerning this loan though...
Personally, I hope Ekotto will stay.

BAE is the only reason why I didn't want Villas-Boas to lose his job. Let's hope Traore has brushed up on his defending in the mean time.

Can't say I'm thrilled if he goes but it will be the chief to centre half and hill back to left back.. No need for traore

On that note and exactly the reason why we hope BAE don't return to Spurs.
