  • Match Day Sponsorship, whats going on

Last game the match day sponsors were QPR in the community Trust ( a charity ) yesterday it was Lotto.

My assumption from this is that the commercial department have failed to sell the match day sponsorship packages for these games, does anyone have any thoughts or knowledge to disuade me from this impression?

In fairness, you cant specifically blame the club on this one. They've brought in a third party to flog the packages who have obviously made a pigs ear out of it. The company are sh1te, the contacted me via linkedin trying to flog a deal to me...not the most productive way of targeting customers

of course you can blame the club, who made the decision to bring in a third party, does he work for the club,

if the QPR team fails to win a match we seem to blame the manager, shouldnt it be the same with other departments?

Guessing, its down the team performances and lack of money around in the advertsing world.

Well, agree, its is the clubs fault for out sourcing it - also outsourcing it to someone who knows jack about QPR

They're actually good value for money as it goes so I dont think economy is a factor.

Trouble is just like your average hardcore supporter the businesses that used to support QPR seem to have been alienated as well by the current regime. its not a bad deal at all but our lot dont seem to know how to market it properly. the main element is the game so you need to sell to qpr supporters.
My company sponsored players for years up until a few years ago, you would think that on that basis and the fact i have been a season ticket holder pretty much since Paul goddard was in primary school it would be worthwhile sending out a hospitality package brochure wouldnt you, and yet!

Agree with Peter, how much is our correct marketing team on at QPR?

They are not doing there jobs!

I've only been to one home game this season, can't remember if our advertising boards are being used?

To be fair, 10 years ago I was selling advertising for 30k, but its much more difficult now.

On the flip side, that deal is attractive.

I have never outsourced work in my life now, you don't get 100" committment and more times than not the agency, are just ripping you off. You cannot monitor calls being made and the yes the most obvious is the lack of passion for what you are selling.

and yet at the time i'd only ever had one season ticket, have never ever sponsored a game and yet they contact me and not you?!

its because people think you can market football just like any other product or service and use the same devices and drivers. bottom line os that football is a different beast especially at lower levels and the drivers and decision triggers and simply not the same so the pitch needs to be different and it needs to be made to the right audience.

outsourcing to a agency, if that really is what has happened is I think a pretty appaling decision.
