Brilliant, first 40k would be filled by new house owners and fans that like cold beer plus the absent army of QPR loyalists.
Now the plan is to fill it free with kids. Thought the purpose of the new ground was to make the club financially self sufficient and to meet fair play rules not become a registered charity.

40 000 for 26 matches brings in about £20 million minus costs....therefore, if it is not filled to capacitiy the difference comes to roughly
5 or 6 million per season...given that we are talking 5 years and onwards and that todays prem income is 150 million (I think)...the difference
between filling to capacity or not is a drop in the ocean

I love the way we are playing this season , parachute payments spent wisely , good team moral and happy with the manager and lack of board interference.

Quite simply, our owners decided a few years ago to invest in our club and commit to it by backing the managers with money that no Rangers manager ever saw the likes of before. Despite the setback of relegation, they continued to demonstrate their commitment by investing heavily in the new training complex. Also, proving that lessons had been learnt, they spent even more, considerable sums for this league, on Austin and Phillips. Young, hungry players with potentially very bright futures. Players with their heads screwed on, prepared to work hard to get their rewards. And they did this whilst resisting the options to overpay the likes of Wayne Bridge or give too long an initial contract to Benayoun. What a change from what we saw recently.
And now, they are continuing to demonstrate the commitment that they had promised all along with regards to a new stadium. A stadium that will not only be a superb home to our football club, but one that will be able to pay for itself in the future, making even more profits that can be invested in the football club.
On top of this, they appear to be happy to consult with fans and have meaningful discussions as to how best to proceed in the short, medium and long term in order to ensure that all views are taken into account based upon possibilities and facts rather than just blinkered and bigoted views.
We are incredibly lucky to have these people and I just can't believe how they are portrayed by some. Heaven forbid they make a profit in the process. Hardly at the expense of QPR FC though is it, bearing in mind how long ago it has been since QPR FC showed any profit of any nature. The club was almost out of business on more than one occasion in the last decade, due to consistently incurring financial losses. Forget any nonsense about "our money", there isn't any of that. All the money being spent/invested is their personal risk. No sane financial institution would lend money to a club with the financial track record that we spent years accruing. How do you think the ABC loan got there in the first place and why it was so hard to get rid of.
I remember the views of the West Ham fans a couple of years ago, saying that Fernandes was all mouth and no trousers and were so pleased they had Gold and Sullivan. Now they are going to rent a ground, just like Coventry, with no prospect of building years and years of substantial future revenues.
As they have stated before, planning permission is at least a year away, so plenty of time to get the designs right and work out ways of having both the capacity for larger crowds, whilst retaining the more intimate feel should it take longer than they hope for them to grow.
Seems to me that everything they have been working on, the decisions they have been making, have all been geared to how best to benefit our club. Unconditionally, I might add. Not for them, wanting to change our name to some animal. Not for them, insisting that in return for their cash we must play in red. They haven't even taken us over and removed our "lucky statue", resulting in a team hurtling into the relegation zone.
For crying out loud, can we not just have the good grace to trust them until such time as they give us a reason not to? Everything they have ever promised, they are delivering on. I'm not suggesting we shouldn't all have a good old debate about 30k or 40k, or pretend that leaving Loftus Road won't be unbelievably difficult for some of us. But to criticise them after the way they are treating us, the commitment they have shown and continue to show is just beyond belief.
And for those that don't go regularly to complain about a bigger ground in order to attract and keep hold of those that do or will do, really takes the biscuit.

Did you know the nets will probably be green or red so that'll be wrong too won't it?

The point is a few on here queried the 40k number and were ridiculed (and still are by the wording of your email) and worse still seen as disloyal to the club we support.
It maybe that TF has got it right and all will turn out well but to belittle a portion of the fanbase that do does seem poor.
Not one post on the subject made a sensible argument for why QPR needed a 40k stadium.
Tony then comes out with a tweet that actually recognises what the few of us were saying all along.
Also it amazes me how very few seem to raise any concern about the situation but worse question the loyalty of those that do. Moving ground is probably the biggest thing for a football fan to witness in his lifetime, chelsea fans were buying up the ground to try to sabotage the sale. Some posters on here don't see moving grounds as an emotive issue even though TF recognised this, but others do.

Brilliant post Brightonr.
My thoughts:
1. 30K vs. 40K. We've only just finalized a location! The design for the stadium is next. They are thinking it through NOW! The 40K mooted previously was just a preliminary thought. Personally, I think 40K is the right number. We are in London for crying out loud, not Wigan. The demand for football tickets in London currently greatly exceeds the supply. I've said before that Tony is a man with a vision and I wouldn't bet against him.
2. Free tickets for U10s. Brilliant idea. If we have the capacity, it will mean MORE paid adults and MORE revenue, not less (everybody loves a deal, more people bringing their youngsters). Of course if we only have 17.8K to work with then kids might take up a seat that could be occupied by a paying adult.
3. Whiners. They are going to whine no matter what. May as well get used to it. Their arguments at this point in time, where an argument is actually presented, which is rarely, are weaker than American beer.'Only a Ranger!' cried Gandalf. 'My dear Frodo, that is just what the Rangers are: the last remnant in the South of the great people, the Men of West London.' - Lord of the Rings, Book II, Chapter I - Many Meetings.

W12Ranger what is your point?, you feel Fernandes and the board are not going to deliver what they say? What would you like as an alternative to your idealistic version of QPR s future.....Probably to keep it as it is. But, if that happens the backing will go away and will leave us with nothing and no future prospects of building the club for the next generations.

Excellent post brights. It's very frustrating listening to a few on here constantly having a dig at TF. Everything he does gets criticised. It's a constant barrage of abuse. If he packed up and left, who could blame him?
Some fans have extremely short memories. They forget things like the ABC loan and the share collapse. They forget the buckets and the proposed merger. They forget the half empty stadium and third tier football. And they forget administration.
TF wants a new academy and training ground. This would be a huge benefit, not just to our club but to any club. The academy would hopefully be a production line of great talent, and he wants a new stadium for these talents to play in.
I do not believe the club can afford to stand still because we will see history repeat itself. All these bad things happened to us. They're facts.
I'm happy to let our board pursue their objectives. Unfortunately, some fans aren't, which is of course their right. We get that some want our future at LR playing second or third tier football, but look around at our rivals. Brentford are going to build a stadium bigger than LR. Chelsea are looking for a new home. Fulham are planning to expand Craven Cottage. If we stand still we'll get squeezed.
Chelsea are almost the same distance from us as we are from Old Oak Common. Perhaps we should step aside and let Chelsea build a 60k stadium right on our doorstep. Why should we care? Let Abramovich and his Russian mates take on the OOC development and build it. We'll still have LR and the champs/league one.
And as our 'hard core' pass away, there'll be no one to replace them. They'll all be at Brentford Chelsea or Fulham.Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.
