But plenty of others, such as Time magazine, reckons the British economy will overtake Germany's by 2050 because we are the most attractive place in Europe for talented, skilled workers. With the stadium clearly its a risk but so, by the way, is standing still - I doubt the owners would remain interested and then we would have a whole new set of challenges such as surviving on no money which threatened the club's very existence only a few years ago. Personally I would rather fail by being too ambitious than fail by being too scared. Re the 40,000 I doubt very much that figure was worked out on the back of a fag packet. My guess is that was considered the optimum amount for concerts etc in the area set against rival entertainment venues such as the O2. The board are providing the infrastructure. It will then be up to the football people to see if they can rise to the challenge.
Regarding the analogy between QPR as a club and Britain the fact is who the **** wants to share this country with all the immigrants coming into it? not the majority of white English people thats for sure. Good for the economy but at what cost? Too high a cost certainly. Stadium good for the brand but at what cost? 40k might be good for concerts and the contract to build 26k houses might be good for the board but all i care about is the football club. Dont care if its a rich club, dont care if its in the prem or league 2 and i think these businessmen with their eyes on the prize are gambling with our clubs future. Dont be fooled by them and be wary as their heart and focus is not in the right place when it concerns QPR the football club.

Suppose it essentially comes down to whether you think Britain was better in, say, the sixties, with Formica tables, black and white TV, mushy peas, not much money, not much chance of bettering yourself if you were born the wrong side of the tracks, fewer opportunities to be your own person if you didn't fit into a very conventional view of how you should lead your life - or whether you prefer a place where you can eat every kind of food, meet every kind of person (I married a woman from abroad who certainly wouldn't have been living in London in the sixties), more money, infinite variety, more freedom to do your own thing and be your own person. As I say, there is no right or wrong answer, but those who tend to be happier and more successful in life are those who embrace change. Fully accept change comes with challenges and problems but I for one would rather be alive now than in a London where pubs would display signs saying "No blacks, No Irish, No dogs". But each to their own.

economics is a cold business....you can double a population and in doing so double the headline economy....yet at the same time halve the standard of living, quadruple homlesness etc etc

I preferred it when 90% of my local community were not wearing a hijab and ignoring any English people

we dont have to fill the stadium, if we could get 30000 regularly and fill it for big games it makes sense, lets face it, if the stadium is going to cost say 100 mil , im sure it would cost almost that as a 30000 seater . Might as well go for the larger option.

Stick the new ground up your r'sss. 231 fans went today whilst we are sitting pretty at the top of the league. A 40k stadium for a club our size is not needed and will kill the fantastic atmosphere that's generated at loftus rd

Well done to those who went and cheered on the team. There's lots of fans who can't afford to go to games regularly, particularly with Christmas around the corner.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

That was boarding houses that had those signs, not pubs.

of course we could fill 40k stadium weekly - but it s all about how we would do that. We clearly do not have enough regular support as I have not struggled to get a ticked for a single game oither than Leeds in 20+ years.

It will be about pricing. If we made the tickets free - we would fill it, i am sure no one would doubt that. If the tickets are £40 then we won't after the initial spike in interest. So, I think the only way they can fill the stadium is to attract non regulars and new fans/tourists and that means cheap tickets.

That may benifit a lot of us in terms of spending.
