Maybe Mittal has huge stockpile of steel he needs to get rid off?

Probably because they are as daft as you and think we can fill it!
You're unbelievable. Are you suggesting that all these millionaires and billionaires that own QPR are daft people?

Is the only argument you can come up with is the new ground is being built purely to host some boy band?

You're really scraping the bottom of the barrel now
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

You keep bringing this up and I'm not sure why? If the ground is used for football once every 2 weeks give or take, why is it an issue if the ground is used on its off days to generate more revenue for the club? Its not as if come 3pm Saturday, there will be any 1D fans still there.

I'm not sure how many concerts you've been to either, but a large proportion of the crowd will be on the pitch anyway, with the stage at one end. The O2 arena max capacity is 20k now already, so the 40k capacity really isn't just for these events.

Because there are no other even slightly credible reasons for objecting to such a fantastic opportunity. Not that that is remotely credible either. How on earth are they planning to get an extra 20,000 in to watch a boy band? They wouldn't be true fans of the boy band, but would need to be people that like music in general or just as silly, enjoy a night out away from the daily grind. One Direction will never be the same the minute all and sundry are allowed to watch them, rather than just a certain amount of impressionable girls. Although personally, I'd give them a wide berth.

You're all missing the point (apart from vblock).

When an arena with far better transport links than the O2 can be used several nights a week, pulling in greater numbers, all paying more money than QPR fans, it ceases to be *our* stadium.

This is QPR playing every fortnight in the O2 of west london. This isn't "letting 1D fans watch the odd gig when we aren't playing".

To quote vblock...this really isn't rocket science.

because "the deal" *is* the bigger ground. And it isn't a football ground. It's a multi-purpose entertainment venue, with a football club used to get planning permission.

The O2 made more money last year than any other venue in the world. This will be the same thing, but with crossrail into central london, and HS2 to the rest of the country.

The difference between 15k and 35k QPR fans every fortnight is completely irrelevant to the business model.

                    • The concerts would surely only take place in the summer when the seasons over like the Emirates, it can't hold concerts during the season, will cause havoc with the pitch and local residents.

Also not many bands who can attract 40k for it to be in regular use, still have twickers, wembley stadium which could cater for 2x our proposed stadium.
Still also have Hyde Finsbury, O2, Olympic stadium which all do the same thing.
As others have said our stadium is conditional on loads of other things going ahead,
What I don't understand is why the Mittals never upped their offer to buy the club outright by what £20m which is lose change but now seem to be by general consensus the driving force behind the regeneration and new stadium?

                        • has anyone listened to the latest podcast yet?

tony was on it and answered plenty of questions regarding the stadium.

he states that he and the fellow shareholders have already aquired large lots of land in the area.

                          all systems are gooooooooooooooooo

Also I think they have rumbled there will soon be a niche in the West London Market for concert venues as there soon to demolish Earls Court/Olympia and I am sure I read Wembley Arena is also on its way down so OOC is potentially the alternative venue for this side of London
