03/04 squad set to be reunited at Loftus Road when Cherries come to town …

THE QPR class of season 2003/04 return to Loftus Road next week, as the club celebrates the tenth anniversary of our memorable promotion from League One to the Championship.

Eleven players from the R’s 2003/04 League One squad have confirmed their place at the reunion, which will form part of the pre-match and half-time activities at our fixture against AFC Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

The R’s, of course, clinched their place back in the second tier of English football on an unforgettable afternoon at Hillsborough in May 2004, when goals from Kevin Gallen, Paul Furlong and a Chris Carr own goal clinched a 3-1 win over Sheffield Wednesday.

All members of that squad have been invited to our game against the Cherries and we are pleased to announce the following players have confirmed their attendance: Chris Day, Nick Culkin, Kevin McLeod, Gareth Ainsworth, Marcus Bean, Marc Bircham, Steve Palmer, Martin Rowlands, Kevin Gallen, Paul Furlong, Tony Thorpe.

Rangers supporters will have the opportunity to meet some of their heroes from yesteryear in the build-up to the fixture, with the players split into three groups pre-match.

Culkin, Rowlands and Gallen will be in the QPR Superstore for a signing session between 6.30-7.00pm, whilst at the same time, Ainsworth, Bean, McLeod and Thorpe will take part in a question and answer session in the W12 Suite.

Over in the Blue & White Bar, Day, Furlong and Palmer will take part in a similar Q&A between 19.00-19.20pm, before all the players come together at half-time for a lap of honour in front of the R's faithful.

I take your point, but putting things in perspective it was an important time in the club's history.

Was a blinder. All that Stella had me speaking Hebrew by the end of the night.
