  • Defoe agrees 4 year deal

With Toronto fc according to the Mirror. £90,000 a week four year deal.

Hard to believe but obviously knows Nelsen well. Gutted thought we had a slim chance of grabbing him.

    No we didn't (IMO)

And i'm not convinced he'll end up in Toronto, he may get other offers from the Premiership.
We got pretty desperate in January last year - Remy & Samba weren't cheap.

Didn't we agree terms with Hooper ? Parker ?

He had a much better chance of playing in the world cup coming to us. I reckon we wouldnt pay nowhere near what they are paying and its purely money reasons and he dont give a shite about the world cup now.

You lot are obsessed with Defoe. I thought everyone would be over paying players over 30 massive wages. Bit off topic bit what happened to that Vydra lad that scored a shed load for Watford last season?

On loan with WBA from Udinese. Only made two appearances with no goals.

Defoe probably wants to get out of this country and make a new life in Canada. Good move imo and good money, who could begrudge him that?

Agree. He's been treated like a right **** by avb . Seems like a good lad , good luck to him wherever he goes . He's 31 now and personally wouldn't want us giving him a big/long contract anyway . Would have been nice on loan this season but hey ho . Doubt it's anywhere near correct anyway as it's the mirror

Thats a real shame!!! He's a natural goal scorer and imho England's best striker.

All that said I think for this division we've got enough forward cover.
IF we do get promoted we will probably have to look for someone who has got that extra bit of premier league quality.
                        SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

90k 4 year deal at 31? I'd bite their hand off if I was him!

People may cite lack of ambition, but he's 31 and really has nothing left to prove. Staying in the Prem on a lesser contract and with a mid table club wouldnt make sense. Would love to see him with us though!

You never know Old H might try and highjack the deal, as he has previous at doing that type of thing.
My old man was the star player for HMP Parkhurst during their successful and unbeaten 77/78 season.

Dont think tony would ever sanction a deal of that magnitude for anyone again, let alone a 31 year old who wants four years. I really like him, but would no way want us to pay anywhere near that deal. Thats a proper jawdropper. He couldnt and wouldnt turn it down, thats a lottery win at his age and for the fact hes not even a first team player. Play for four more years in a lovely country and retire and live like a proper lord till his last breath.
