Originally posted by Sminky View PostIt never ceases to amaze me the level of blind faith many of our own fans place in Tony Fernandes, particularly on this forum. I, along with a smattering of QPR fans are somewhat disenfranchised with Fernandes and his behaviour. If QPR are hit with a fine, penalised etc, I expect the usual excuses to be wheeled out "But what about Chelsea/Man City?", "It was Mark Hughes fault". Its all utterly idiotic.
I'm expecting the usual rhetoric of "Well Fernandes can't be clueless because he is a successful business man". So what? And so what if he is a nice bloke - which incidentally I think he is - we are paying for Fernandes naivety. Park Ji-Sung represents everything that has been wrong with the Fernandes reign. Some of our signings and wages paid is tantamount to misappropriation of club fund, quite simply if there is any fine to be paid it should be directly from Fernandes pocket. If a huge fine was levied against the club and Fernandes decided to abandon ship, I wonder whether the adulation he is afforded would still be quite so forthcoming.
I think all in all this is a pretty depressing time to a QPR fan. The novelty of a wealthy owner chasing the dream and buying in big names has worn a little thin now. We're a small club and we've embarrassed ourselves and hardly ingratiated ourselves to other clubs in the Championship who are frankly cheesed off with us.
So please. No more Fernandes love. Some of us are bored of it.
You kind of hit the nail on the head yourself.
As you say - " a smattering" and then "some of us"
Whereas I wouldn't mind betting the large majority of us both respect and are grateful for all Tony Fernandes has done and is continuing to do for the club.

Curious, you are depressed supporting us? I think this season has been a breath of fresh air. And to be honest, fans are starting to respect us as a club again. We went down, but we are well up for carrying on the fight. I'm really proud to call myself a QPR fan, and I'm sure we will all be partying come the end of the season. Nothing wrong with being hopeful for the future, sure as hell beats dwelling on the past and holding grudges.

However, take everything into context and look it at objectively, what Fernandes has done and continues to do is load an almost insurmountable level of debt against the club.
Promotion is an absolute necessity to plug the deficit.

He's not someone who likes to fail, and let's not beat around the bush, he has so far failed spectacularly. Only time will tell if he will make good on his promises, maybe he won't. One thing I'm certain of though, and that's it won't be for a lack of trying.

You'll find on other forums, general football forums, we as a club are regularly branded "A Joke of a club", "Run by idiots" and "Getting what they deserve". I love QPR, I don't love Fernandes. I won't be mourning his departure from the club whenever that occurs.

I think people are giving way to much credit to McClarens influence. Yes it was nice to have him but he is not and has never been God. He has been run out of every club he has managed from memory
When McClaren was here there was thread after thread about how poor and lucky we were I think two of our best performances have come since he has come at Wigan away and ironically against Derby

I was very happy with the start to the season, however I was concerned when McClaren left, concerns that have unfortunately come to fruition. McClaren is a vastly superior coach than Redknapp. I thought the pair of them however were perfect, Harry is a decent man manager and McClaren a decent tactician. Given our squad we are doing the bare minimum. You can't expect to walk the Championship, its so competitive but the Burnley game was depressing, Assou-Ekotto was pathetic.

An embellishment on my part. The point still stands up however.

I don't venture on other fans sites much, but from what I've seen attitudes are changing. Especially people you talk to in the street. we didn't implode, and in fact look rather resilient in fact. They may not like us, but they are actually starting to respect us. Football is fickle, if we go up the media and other fans will be quick to start lauding how well we have done.
