Stan the man at numero uno

Dave Thomas, The Badger, Stains, Weagerle, Sir Les all come close

Clive, Goddard, Sinton, Hazell also close

stan bowles still is rangers named star. my first hero-remember him getting sent off in a night game and kicking the ball high into the corner of the loft in disgust and he got a standing ovation(1978/79 odd). we've had a good few hero's down at loftus rd but stan and les are my all time two.

Sir Les is my personal favourite due to the era thing but he's still strongly linked by the public to Newcastle and Spurs, also he got better over time with us. Sir Les defined a generation, SB defined a football club.

Therefore for what it's worth I go greatest SB.

        Nice!

Great post......and I agree with it entirely.

Perhaps. Facto should have changed the thread title to.......'does anyone NOT agree that Stan was our finest player'....

Had the pleasure and indeed honour of watching both Rodney and Stan play....not much between them imo but Stan would have to shade it!

Never saw Rodney playing live, Stan always oozed class he just entertained every time he played. He could be out of the game for ages but in an instant could play someone in, weave a bit of magic or score from nowhere. The reason I support the club and will always be my favourite player of all time

I saw stan and marsh (and george best) at the bush, but my favourite and best player of all time is clive allen. Dont know if it was cos he was scoring wonder goals when i was most supseptive to brain washing, but he really did it for me (no homo).

                    Clive Allen
                    Stan Bowles
                    Rodney Marsh
                    Les Ferdinand
                    Roy Wegerle

Only going for those who I've seen play:

As a youngster, Alan McDonald was my hero - but there was always a massive buzz when the manager would let Wegerle out of his cage bring him on as a sub. Probably one of the only players of his time who could have held a candle to Cantona (if he'd have stayed with us).

Idiosyncratic, flawed, inconsistent, supremely-skilled, goal-machine, entertainer, proper Ranger, Wegerle.

Never saw Rodney play but saw Stan loads of times and is my favourite player of all time. The man was pure class. I feel sorry for the younger fans who never saw Bowles.

Add to Stan, Gerry Francis, Dave Thomas, Don Masson, Don Givens etc and you can see why the 76/76 team is credited with being our best team ever.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Didn't see any player before the early-mid 90s. So for me, going on players i've actually seen, skill and technique-wise it has to be Adel Taarabt. But, if I was to think about a player who embodies everything QPR is about as well as being one of the best players I've seen, it has got to be Kevin Gallen.

Other players i'd mention would be Macca, Sir Les, Bardsley, Ainsworth, Furlong, Rowlands, Bircham.

Stan was a fantastic player as was Rodney with skill to burn and saw them both play for the Rs, but for me our best ever player was GERRY FRANCIS in his pomp he was just brilliant he could do anything thats why he became England Captain at such a young age. he was the pivitol player in that great 70s team a real driving force, sadly injury curtailed his career early, Also a player as good if ijuries hadn't blighted his career was Martyn Busby as a young player he was immence
think i'm showing my age, but its all about opinions and also age a lot of our younger fans would never have had the priviledge of watching the likes of Stan.Rodney Gerry.Dave Thomas Sir Les.Roy Weggerle for those of us that are old enough we've' some outstanding players? but also a load of S**T too
