Was it the same keeper that played for them last week, if so he was f ecking well due a good game!!
2011-2013, 2 seasons in the Premiership, 76 games, 14 wins........two years of my life I'll never get back!!

2013/2014 mediocrity topped off with a win at Wembley....

2014/2015 was pretty much the same as 2011-2013.....

    2015/2016, average at best.....

    2016/2017, same old, same old....

    2017/2018, aim low, avoid disappointment!

Its the hope that kills you!

There keeper kept them in it for the first 15/20 mins so by that reckoning he must be a contender, but i thought the big Russian was a real handful , gave Dunne and Hill a hard time , held it up and won a lot of ball in the air, thought Onuoha played him really well in the second half, but he was a constant pain to our back line.

Not singling you out fella but it's funny how everyone thought he was a real handful, blah, blah, blah and there has been no talk of Austin. Their keeper pull off three very good saves from him, albeit he wasn't a mennise to their back four in the air, but he lead our line well, held the ball up and came deep to get involved in the game, yet there's not really much of a mention about him. Three times he going himself into great positions if only Hoilett and Philips looked up.

I agree Daz - caused more trouble for them than the Russian did us

100% agree - but this thread wasn't asked to compare the 2 - simply comment on the Ruski?

To add to this, I've said it before and will say it again, how many teams are we going to play this season whereby their keeper is MOTM. Hard to argue that we need to be more clinical when this has happened now for the 3rd or 4th time already this season. There has been a few occasions where its been down to poor finishing too thou.

Keepers like to play against superior teams. They are underdogs, can play without pressure and have nothing to lose.

It all started because some deluded Fake had the Russian as MOTM. Not for one minute suggesting Charlie was MOTM but, by comparison with the Ruski I thought he caused more problems for them than he did for us. So, excluding the keeper, Pog still wasn't MOTM material.
All relative I guess and ultimately I stand by my original view that we deserved to win but it was an entertaining game and the results around us meant a point on our travels aint too shabby

Our finishing is far too predictable for my liking. That´s why we need a more agressive midfield and/ or a second striker to help the workhorse CA upfront. I suspect we miss Tom Carrol badly?

PS. Pogrebnyak is a real class act. Kept Our defence busy in long patches. Luckily enough for us, Le Fondre didn´t play.

Im not comparing them , just saying he was a real handful i thought, i think he was close to a mom performance on there side, put yourself in a centre back position and ask who would you rather play up against? I would much rather mark Austin than Pog , i think Austin is quite predictable very one sided and when isolated i dont think his touch is tip top, now im not saying he is rubbish before any get on there high horse, he is a very good forward at this level. Don't think his game suites the loan role he is more a predator type front man, where as the big Russian is a ideal loan target man type.

Oh right apologies, missed that bit. Bl00sy skim reading

Austin was superb again, carving out chances from nothing, his movement is brilliant. Hold up play blinding n all, rarely gives away possession despite being up top on his own & having 2 defenders hanging off of him.

I know mate - we watch him week in week out working his nuts off and getting on the end of stuff, then someone pops up with a comment like he's a bit lazy on the "is he clinical enough" thread. Just wow: I guess maybe tv coverage gives that impression but one thing Charlie aint is lazy

I was there on Saturday - and I think he looked lethargic/lazy. So did the folks sitting around us.

The general consensus was that he visibly had the hump playing up front on his own - or was carrying a knock.

Ironically, as soon as AJ came on and added a bit of impetus - he looked sharper and more up for it.

I know we all have our opinions, and I can half see a criticism of Austin not putting chances say (don't agree, but I can see that angle) - but to say he looks lazy / lethargic baffles me?! The fella works his nuts off for 90 minutes every single game in a thankless role up top on his own and rarely ever loses possession. Strong as an ox n all.

He has mostly worked his nuts off to date - but in the first part of the game he looked half a yard off his normal pace IMO.

Don't really care about the misses - on any other day he'd be running up the Oxford road celebrating a hatrick!

well that's stating the obvious, kin ell. People slating Charlie have obviously never kicked a ball and truly understood the game.joint second with one up top at this stage, not too shabby in my book.
