  • Was I at a different game on Saturday...?

According to this message board they had Pavel Pogrebnyak as MOTM. Was I missing something here. I thought hands down their keeper was MOTM.

To add to this, I've said it before and will say it again, how many teams are we going to play this season whereby their keeper is MOTM. Hard to argue that we need to be more clinical when this has happened now for the 3rd or 4th time already this season. There has been a few occasions where its been down to poor finishing too thou.

Papers all give mom to their keeper. Is every keeper in this league the worlds best? Or is our finishing just not the best?

That's why I started this thread. Honestly think its a mixture of both. Some of the saves of late have been reaction saves, which you could argue is poor finishing because the shots have almost been straight at the keeper. The keeper has still got to get himself into the position to make the save thou. For me thou on Saturday, their keeper pulled off 4 very good saves from memory. My thoughts on that might change when I re-watch the match tonight.

Opponents raise their games against us. Simple.

if it hadn't been for their keeper they'd have got wacked made at least 5 or 6 game saving saves

            obviously their keeper saved them
that said, we do need to be more clinical and relying on CA is dangerous, we need more goals from other players

Is it finishing, luck, great keeping or a combination of all? probably all - Hoilett hit a wonder shot that struck the bar, it could have gone in off the keeper or hit the bar and gone in but it didn't - their bloke hit a wonder strike off the post and it went in. Their keeper made a series of very good saves and Phillips had two decent chances but failed to hit the target. Hoilett's shot at the end of the first half, was convinced that was in but the save was from the top draw. All things considered it is a combination of all the above. But we played well and deserved to win - keeper was MOTM, the Pogrebnyak certainly wasn't.

To be fair whilst their keeper had a good game, I thought Guthrie made them tick, stupid haircut but very good player. Certainly streets ahead of the Russian.

I do think you need to credit our defence for containing pogrenabak as he is a bit of a beast. If it wasn't for him we would have creamed them as he was their only outlet. Like Baird though, shame we missed out on him.

Back to Pogrebnyak - I though he was lucky to stay on the pitch. Persistent fouling and took an age to be booked. Done Barton twice later on in the game and could of easily seen another yellow equating to a red. Personally I thought the song we sang was more apt for him - 'Sh*t f**king Russian. You've got sh*t f**king Russian' - rather than their version.

Agree their keeper was MOTM, but I thought that over sized Ruski was a good player, right handful.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Our luck stinks to say the least. So any of you negativity police out there wish to jump on me, I am being realistic.
Having said that we are only two points from top, so happy days

I think Pog is a great player, reminds me of Grant Holt but with ability. Bullied our defence and caused problems. Was the same when they beat us in the cup last season at home.

Their keeper was quality and we would have been out of sight after about 20 mins had he not been on form.

Pogbrenyiak is a decent forward - not the most prolific but he works hard and is a constant outlet for his team.

Agreed. A proper handful. Would like to see him in the real hoops.

Their goalie was defo MOM though. Saved them from a potential "scoreboard" tonking (they were ok with the ball).
