Look at Cardiff, Hull and Palace at the moment.. Cardiff were banging up the Championship last season and look at them now in the prem. The championship and premier league are drastically different levels of skill. A big boost to promoted clubs' chances of staying in the prem is having a proven goal scorer. (And obviously a squad that gets along, a manager that isnt daft, etc blah blah) But with the 3 recently promoted clubs lacking a striker who's bangin them in consistently, all 3 clubs do not currently look assured to stay in the premiership.

I think sometimes people on this forum get overconfident at consistent success in the Championship, and think that equates to premier league quality. This is simply not true. The jump is massive, and having a player like Remy makes it a h3ll of a lot easier.

What's 20m in the bank, compared to the loss of Premier League revenue because we are relegated again after just 1 season or so? (If you need reminding of the numbers between the 2 leagues check out this video someone posted on this forum: http://www.nytimes.com/2013/10/16/op...fair-game.html)
Good post. Finding players who can score in the PL on a consistent basis is very hard and when you do get one, it's crazy to sell them for any price. Having money doesn't guarantee we will find a scorer at PL level. There aren't many strikers who can score 15 + goals in the PL. Remy is one who can and will.
Anyway, let's get up first before we start worrying about our squad

how much has Naarwich spent on 3 duds, Spurs struggling too, cost them a damn sight more than £10m

Good post arthur but its all a it simplistic. If a top four club comes in for remy offering champions league and a challenge for the title in front of huge crowds, nothing in the world could keep the player here. Its not a fact of wanting to sell someone, sometimes you dont get a choice. .

yes! spot on. I'm glad you made the point, because its the only 1 I left out of my original rant.
this should be the only circumstance that a team that's bound for promo to the Prem should sell a proven Prem-level goal scorer.

I respect a fair bunch of you lot on this forum, and am sure you can come up with far better examples than this mid-20's y@nk
            but the most recent is..
Man United salavating over Palace youngster Wilfred Zaha. There was no chance he would stay at Selhurst Park, and thus would be best for Palace to milk every last pence from Man U.

Bottom line: If Remy wants to stay, we'd be mad to sell him. (I'd even say that keeping a few French speaking blokes on the wage bill, regardless of their talent, would be a good idea if it keeps LR at LR.)

my view has always been to keep him if QPR go up this season.

hopefully there is no agreement to sell him for £6-8m, because if he keeps on scoring he is worth 20-25m

Sure Remy could go to one of the big clubs but wheres the pleasure in that?

He might prefer to challenge for the EPL title with QPR next year - now that really would be something!

I expect a bidding war in summer for Remy.
Can see him ending up at Arsenal.

Begs the question why the f*** have we loaned him out if our ambition is to bounce straight back up? We'd be storming this league if he was playing for us.... Worst bit of business ever. ATAF.

Certain it was in his contract. Player of his stamp is never going to play in the championship.

Yeah but if Remy was at the club everyone would rely on him. Winning promotion by building a team of winners, a Band of Brothers, doing it that way bears fruit that lasts forever.
This way Remy can practice and hone his skills this year at Newcastle then come back in the summer ready to rock and roll for QPR next season.

I think Remy has a lot of respect for the club.
He needed to play in the Prem this season to make sure he wasn't overlooked for World Cup.
He could come back next season, but it depends on what money is tabled in the summer for his services.
So far he is 2nd top scorer in prem, if he continues to have a good season and does well in World Cup he will be in huge demand.

Has scored goals on our shite prem season, and is scoring for shite Newcastle as well.

I really don't know what the debate is,Remy has already stated he loves London so we get promoted he stays with us,we don't need the money,if we stay in the Champs he goes to Arsenal or Spuds....end of....Newcastle is a stop gap and they have absolutely no chance of keeping him, ffs he turned them down for us I think that says it all for them !!

Good point, I also think that he has a lot of respect for Harry as he tried to sign him on 2 occasions before he joined us.

Its hard to call what will happen though.
If a big money bid came in for him, would we turn it down?
But then if we are promoted we are going to need another Goalscorer next season.

You dont know what the debate is, but you say if we dont go up he will go to spurs or arsenal. So if they want remy if we stay down, they will obviously want him if we go up. And if they want him he goes, its as simple as that. No player in this day and age will stay with a team fighting relegation when he can go to a top six team or even better, one playing champions league football. Its not even about transfer money, the players run the game now.
