I'm convinced if Tevez had been booked immediately, then there would have been no retaliation. Probably fed up with disgraceful refereeing, just as when Clint's goal at Bolton was ruled out and when Lee Mason simply couldn't wait to give a penalty and send Derry off at Old Trafford.

If it were me, Aguero would have received the knee approx 180 degrees from where Barton's made contact.
And you'd have received a similar ban to Joey, potentially worse.

He lost his rag again, and got punished for it. His red card was 100% correct.

Not saying he didnt have his own reasons for it, and the ref didn't help, but how many other players go attacking players from behind after they've been sent off? It was a very rare incident, and he was condemned correctly.

Just because he's doing better now, doesn't change what he did then.

Derry didn't boot anyone up in the air when he was sent off did he, and his sending off was far more unjust.

Joey became a QPR legend that day in Manchester for me. Loved every single minute of that passion. Hated the way he was treated, was so pissed off with the club and the other fans coating him off. Make of that what you will.

        I make it we agree.

There is, in my opinion a very distinct difference between the actions of someone like Ashley Young who sets out to do the wrong thing on purpose and what Joey did which was all a bit "spur of the moment".

In hindsight, he left the team a man down and facing an uphill struggle, one in which they almost succeeded in pulling off. And clearly that was neither wise nor responsible.

Hard to argue with the length of his ban either, so no complaints in the direction of the authorities.

All Hughes needed to do though was recognise that Joey could play a vital part in keeping us up. Not just because of his footballing ability, but also his passion, desire and will to do well. Something that was visibly lacking in the vast majority of Hughes's recruits. Then, the whole issue would have simply gone away. Sadly, Hughes was too stupid to realise. And in one of his rare moments of complete madness, Fernandes went along with him.

Still, all in the past now. He's here, seems happy to be and his performances are what we would expect.

the ref at the inquiry said after reviewing the video that the red card was wrong

Did he really? He struck Tevez and deserved to go for that IMO. Tevez should definitely have gone too, but I can't see how Barton's red was wrong. It was provoked, but that's not an excuse.

Very odd if the ref backed away from that decision.

And none of that excuses his reaction afterwards, which was the real problem. If he'd walked off the pitch, none of this would be an issue, because he would have received half the ban he got, and would have been picked in the 25 man squad, rather than being farmed out on loan.

He really didn't help his case by trying to blame it on a teammate either.

He's been very good this season, he may have found his level

I've been pleasantly surprised at his performances and attitude. He's finally being the player we all hoped he would be when he signed. Industrious, battling and driving the team on. Long may it continue.

However I don't think I'm being overly controversial by saying that I still don't like him particularly and wouldn't be too bothered if he was to move on in the January window.

We'd miss his presence on the pitch, (and more so now with Faurlin's devastating injury), but he's not been that good that we couldn't replace him, especially for the wages that would be freed up.

You wouldnt mind if we lost our player of the season in a vital to the club promotion chasing season. Astounded. Nah not astounded, gobsmacked.

Deeps please accept my unreserved apologies, for this unprovoked, unilateral attack on you and your opinions. It's just habit on my part. It would be very dull without you.

I don't think he's vital to our season. He's playing well, but let's not get carried away.

I also think we could replace him if he went, which I'm sure we would.

Edit: Just to clarify, I'm not campaigning for him to be got rid of. (not any more at least ), just that if he went, I wouldn't be too bothered.

Opinions like R'soles etc, but im certain we couldnt replace him, hes the best player in his position in the division imho. And im even more certain we would be and are much poorer without him.

Think you'll find Harry would vehemently disagree with you.

Did you watch his post-match interview yesterday talking about Joey's impact this season?

I'm aware that I may have a slightly biased view of Joey's irreplaceability (new words ftw) because I don't like him much.

He's having a good season so far, let's hope that continues.
