Originally posted by brightonr View PostI personally have always thought that he was very shabbily treated by Hughes and the club. Shouldn't really condone violent behaviour, but what he did at Man City was at least brought about by the passion and desire to keep himself, his team mates and his club, in the Premier League.
Contrast that with how some of those that followed him spent the next season generally not being bothered at all, providing one inept performance after another and even, almost one year on, leaving the pitch laughing, having taken us down without so much as a fight.
Joey seems to be responding very well indeed to the fact that both the fans and the club are at least giving him another chance. As he should, to be fair. Long may he continue to do so.
He insulted all of us with his claims that he wouldn't play in the Championship, but to his credit he's swallowed his pride and knuckled down impressively this season. He was spectacularly lucky to get the support he has from the fans, and he's now doing the job he should be for the wages he's paid.

He definitely deserves praise for his performances and conduct this season, a vast improvement, especially as he seems to be a target for opposition players and fans (and the odd ref!)

Originally posted by Rangers77 View PostWhat was appalling in being sent off at city??? Unwise, sure. Unhelpful??? Yep. But these things happen. Joey was hit by Tevez, retaliated, he was sent off, but the ref didn't also sent Tevez off for his offence which he or the lino should have seen (and subsequently admitted). Joey then threw a wobbly AFTER he'd been sent off and which wasn't really that disgraceful and it didn't affect anything. His actions, if unwise, we're not as disgraceful as Aguero (sp?) going down like he'd been shot when he wasn't at all hurt. Nor that animal Ballotelli coming off the bench to threaten Joey. Out form this season owes a great deal to Joey's class..
His reaction afterwards was a disgrace though, and he got banned for a quarter of the next season because of it. You can try and down play it, but it was a ridiculous and violent loss of temper.
No excuses for it at all.

It was his fault, his actions unwise, but I've seen more things that merit the description of disgraceful happen in football and at our club. The ban was way too harsh. And we ought have made use of Joey last season, but Hughesless screwed that up. Thank God Joey's in our team. No thanks to some round these here parts who'd have run him out of town. He's a top fella IMHO.
I won't shed any tears if he goes in January, even though the team would be weaker without him at the moment.
