  • Joey Barton

The man is a class act this season. The holding up of Faurlin's shirt by him and the team really shows what a good squad we Harry has put together this season.

What I liked about him today is that he didn't give the ball away like before.

hands up i never wanted him back for two reasons. one...he was total pi ss poor for us in his previous spell and let us down on the pitch considering some of his own well documented self belief. two....he came across as a total kn obhead ego who made himself look like a proper t ool at times.
that said when i knew he was sticking on the shirt i wanted barton to make a difference and get that passion he clearly has instilled into a deflated team. in his defence for his previous spell it must have been disheartening to see so many wage grabbing c@nts with no passion. the spell away helped him. got to hand it to tony, harry etc-a lot of owners would have fc uked him off. joey barton will make a huge difference to us getting up-hats off son.

He's been much better than I expected him to be, especially his temperament.

Not as good as some would have you believe but he's definitely earning his wages now.

Nice gesture. Although i'm not sure what this is all about!

I personally have always thought that he was very shabbily treated by Hughes and the club. Shouldn't really condone violent behaviour, but what he did at Man City was at least brought about by the passion and desire to keep himself, his team mates and his club, in the Premier League.

Contrast that with how some of those that followed him spent the next season generally not being bothered at all, providing one inept performance after another and even, almost one year on, leaving the pitch laughing, having taken us down without so much as a fight.

Joey seems to be responding very well indeed to the fact that both the fans and the club are at least giving him another chance. As he should, to be fair. Long may he continue to do so.

Our best and most consistent player by a long way. Needs to be captain imho. Would love to get back in the premiership with him as our main man,

I never wanted him when first signed nor wanted him back when in his self imposed excise in Marseiile but he's been a revelation, concentration is brilliant and pushes the team forward, marvellous.

The fly in the ointment is though that he's dropped a division and really a good prem player should be able to boss this division.

I don't know whether he couldn't hack the premiership and that's why his passing was wayward, unable to stamp his authority in midfield and consequently get provoked into losing it...he also seemed always to be slightly late on challenges. The alternative was we were a new club, clearly dressing room disarray and general amateurism running through the whole club resulting in Barton never being settled resulting in his failings.

Hopefully if we now go up, he would have evolved with the club and be central in team building, resulting in much improved performances in the prem...if we get there that is.

I don't think he needs to be captain. One of the reasons he playing well is the lack of that responsibility
