I questioned whether spending 300-400 pounds for a weekend to Blackpool following the R's was a sensible move.
It is probably the sort of thing I would of done back in my youth, but his reaction did surprise me, as he is a poster I have always felt was quite sensible and articulate and I guess the response did feel like a kick in the teeth after just trying to question whether it was the right thing to do, for someone living in surrey on the average wage.
I appreciate fans that spend fortunes following their club and everyone has different outgoings, ie living at home, morgage, rent etc but I just felt that 400 pound was crazy money. It is not like a holiday abroad, it's just a wkend in blackpool where he might go on a donkey ride, head up the tower, meet a girl for a 1 night stand but for me the cost is beyond sensible. I know you have to live while you're young but being a financial advisor for nearly 8 years, I find some of the money todays youngsters spend is why they should expect a lifetime of debt, which brings added stress etc which leads to many other issues.
I read today that you can buy a season ticket for Dortmund and it will cost you 260 euro's. Quite incredible compared to the rip off of the premier league. I know they have standing sections but at that price, i'd watch it standing on my head.
Not having a pop at matty because it interests me that he thinks nothing of it spending that kind of money but it does just highlights what a rip off country we live in.
