    Redknapp explained:

“Luckily Charlie has stayed fit, which has been good for us, and the system we’ve played has suited us fine. Arsenal are doing okay with it as well – they’re not doing too badly with one striker. Controlling football games now is what it’s about and you’ve got more chance of doing that with the extra player in midfield.

Andy Johnson trains a couple of days a week and then a couple of days he doesn’t train. We’ve had to nurse him through a bit.”

"Controlling football games now is what it’s about..."
To translate Redknappspeak into plain English:
I like going for nil-nil draws.
Banning people is no longer my hobby,
but take a look at my photo blog:

How and why did I start supporting QPR in Estonia:

Nil-nil away draws are fine because we've been winning at home and grabbing the odd away victory.

only problem with the player in the hole is if he doesnt join up with austin then austin is easy to pickup and what with us only recently playing 2 wingers we've really lacked creativity.
Soldier: "im on reconnaissance sir.. im looking for our camouflage expert.. have you seen him?"
          Lovejoy: "No?!"
Soldier: "GOD DAMNIT THAT GUYS GOOD!"

Jenas did that job well v Derby but now he, Hoillet and Nico are injured we may well see a return to 4-4-2 like we did in the 2nd half v Reading, as we have no fit creative midfielders left.

The problem is we really only have 2 strikers, so if we played with 2 strikers and one gets injured (which could easily happen with AJ) then we are left with the choice of only playing 1 striker. If we play with 1 striker and have 1 available, we can then change the format during the match and play with 2 strikers.

Not actually true though is it?!!

Chevanton has looked great whenever he's played for the ressies, AJ is fit again and Hitchcock is good enough for a place in the squad in pretty much everyone's eyes but Harry Redknapp.

Chevantons not getting a look in because of the system we're playing with one up front. Austins first in the pecking order and then AJ.

If we was to play two up front then he might get a chance, but until that happens he might as well wrap up and get comfy on the bench.
                      SIR LESLIE FERDINAND!!

Hang on Harry compared our system with Arsenals?

Yea cos we have the same quality of players in midfield that feed our lone striker don't we?!?

Arsenal can play with 1 up front as they've always scored bundles from all over the park. Us? We struggle to get our strikers to score goals never mind anyone else. Poor comparison Harry & I'm a big fan.

He goes with this notion that playing two speedy wingers nearly equates to two extra front men when they push up but we all know this doesn't work. SWP & Hoilett do NOT score goals & Matt Phillips has only just shown he can whip a ball in & also hasn't scored yet so again flawed argument.

I'm not saying I or we know more than Harry football wise of course we don't but playing with 2 strikers guarantees more goals than playing with 1. It's not working out to shabbily in the goals for column for Liverpool & Man Utd is it.

Redknapp reluctant to change QPR system

Redknapp remains unconvinced that QPR would be better off playing with two up front – even if he is able to sign another striker during the transfer window...the Rangers boss is one of many managers who believe a 4-4-2 system can be ineffective:

“We played Blackburn with two up front and never had a shot on goal. It doesn’t mean that because you play with two up front you’re suddenly going to have loads of shots at goal.

You have to be able to control the game to get chances to score. We’ve played with two up front and had chances, and had two and not had a shot. I’m happy with how we’ve played. We are short on goals, that is a fact, but playing with two up front may not make a difference.”

I take Harry's point about being able to play the ball between the lines.
How about teaching the team to try and play the ball across the line every now and then, the effing goal line.

You can play two up front if the rest of the team behind you compensate. We can't. Burnley do, City do.

We haven't got the players for 4-4-2.

We have the players to play a 4-5-1 perfectly, they're just not playing anywhere close to good enough at the moment.

With Carrol gone, signing the best possible centre mid that we can attract is key IMO. 2 forwards to help take pressure off Charlie too and we are good to go.
