Assuming Watson plays tomorrow, it will for most fans be the first opportunity they have had to form an opinion on him, based on something tangible, rather than hype, hearsay or from a clip on MOTD.
When the Watson saga was at it's height I regularly challenged the majority of opinion that he was the Messiah, and very few posters were able to back up their views with a claim of having seen him in the flesh.
Now I'm sure that if he plays a blinder or is sh*te, this board will be flooded with opinion, but surely we should wait for half a dozen or so games to truly judge.
It was the same with Simpson and Hooper the other day away at Scunny. I was at the game with only about 599 others. Simpson looked very promising and put some real effort in, and Hooper had a good game without setting the world alight.
My point is that having watched both of them play the once, I can't really have an informed opinion of whether or not they will be or would have been a valuable addition to the squad.
Funny how 12 hours later, knowing we had shown some interest, that Hooper was the answer to every problem, including making the tea at LR, and Simpson is top of everyone's striker list!
Let's have some measured views please tomorrow.... and give Watson & Simpson a warm welcome as temporary R's!!
