  • Burning Bridges. ...?

Harry and the board have done a good job to remove the 'trouble' element from the team - and we can all see the results so far.

However, although obviously I have no visibility of what goes on, what's said, and what happens behind the scenes, on the surface I am concerned about his recent comments directed at Adel and Remy. Well, to be clear, I'm no longer bothered about Adel (love him for what he gave us that I did, once upon a a time) as I think we have well and truly moved on from him. But Remy is different. I didn't particularly perceive that he was part of the trouble element (despite being a French African ;-) - he seemed to work hard and he proved his quality. He did his bit for us in the time he was here.

And it's understandable that he wanted to leave (on loan or otherwise in the Summer). He had other offers before he joined us, and he's clearly a top, top striker who absolutely should be playing in the Prem league - and of course in a World Cup year it was even more important he continued to do so. Plus, you wouldn't expect him to have massive loyalty for us, having only been with us for a few months and during a very tough time.

So, should we keep up the great form and go up next year, I'm not sure why Remy would not be happy to come back. He'd be playing in the Prem League, probably in a vastly improved team. And we'd have a ready made top class striker back in the team. I think Charlie Austin is great (especially at Championship level) and I'm hoping he can make the step-up to PL if we get there again - but we know Loic is at that level already and seems to have some qualities specifically that top PL strikers need (pace, technical ability).

In Harry we trust I guess, just a bit surprised he seemed to publicly burn bridges in that way. He didn't need to really. Why not keep your options open !

Agree with all that Snaxo but maybe stuff went on behind the scenes that we dont know about regarding Remy? thats all i can think of that justifies Harry's comments.

indeed Vblock, one can imagine that's the only reason. Still things can change over time, and I'm still wondering whether it would have better for Harry to just stay quiet on this. Having the option of Remy to come back would be a pretty decent option.

Don't worry about it Snaxo........no such thing as burning bridges in football.

Tevez at city, Suarez every 6 months at Liverpool, Joey definitely not playing for us in the championship.....the list goes on...

If Remy is still an R when we're back in the premier league....who knows?

Remy has at least been professional unlike Taarabt who imho has passed it. Remy had all the right to stay in the PL to pursue his Intenaltional career. Nobody seems to know what is happening behind the scene, but did Harry say in words he didn't want Remy back If we go up? All he said was good luck to him. You never know. Who had thought Barton would be back?

Would have both of them back in a heartbeat if promoted. Remy 100%, and Adel if he was to knuckle down and be the player his talent will allow him to be. Remy is a natural finisher at the top level and a million miles better then Austin, Johnson, & Zamora. We will not attract a better striker to the club then Remy, the guy should be playing for a top 6 club imo. And love him or hate him Adel can still do things our current squad can only dream of (but will only have him back if he was to get his head down and let his football do the business). IMO if we was promoted our current squad how it is will more then likely come straight back down, but we don't need to worry about that yet anyway.

Thats my thinking vblock. Don't forget he never played one pre-season game because of "injury". Maybe he said i want out and refused to play...Harry isn't stupid and he was the one who wanted Remy in the 1st place so
                  something's not right

Wow, you really do rate Adel dont ya. Funny how none of the managers hes playing under regard him so highly.
Agree that Remy is good though, not top six good, but deffo top half.

Talent wise pal you cant knock him, if you re read it if I say only if he knuckles down, which as you say he doesn't seem to be doing or the managers will be playing him.

He never will. Warnock was coating him off yet again on talksport this morning when asked whos the worst atitude player hes ever worked with. Said hes a law onto himself. Dont drink but lives on different hours to everyone else, and you never know whether hes going to turn up for training or not, and doesnt do anything you instruct him to on the pitch either. Think you can safely file adel under 'wasted talent'.

Remy - IS a top world class striker IMO. Has all the atrributes and has proved it at the top level for both club and country. I like him, I rate him and realistically we all knew when he signed that at best he would be loaned out if we went down.

Adel - A great player on his day. However, he wanted to leave along with all our other so called 'superstars' and went to a rival club. I think we need to part with Adel now personally purely because we would then to fit our team around him again. Don't get me wrong he is a top player when he wants to be, but I cant deal with the mood swings he brings to the whole squad. We are building our team up once again, and his introduction could sway all this personally. The fact he isnt starting for Fulham speaks volumes too, no space for him.

                          Remy YES - Adel NO

only problem might be finding someone to actually take Adel.....

If all the loans went permanently then the one I would be sorry to lose is Remy because he delivered last year and looks good this year - but nothing can change until January window at the soonest afaik

and maybe not even then maybe next summer so it is all in the distant future.

It does put the players in the current squad front and centre which is good though.
