Best performance so far from him wouldn't exactly describe him as bossing the midfield but looked more comfortable.
Barnsley sat deep , Carroll sat in front of the back four so was never under any pressure like previous matches which forced him into schoolboy mistakes.
Still not convince he is the answer but probably just behind Dunne and Hill for MOTM

Defo a player in him and a vast improvement today but for me still to many easy passes backwards especially to the player who has just given it to him.
He seems a tough lad though and throws himself in when required

Always wants, still prone to give the ball away needlessly as he did again on a few occasions but it's clear he has an eye for a pass & made a couple of last ditch tackles that could of proved costly had he not made them. Would like to see him behind the front 2 (Austin & Niko) but none the less a lot better fair play.

For the record, I'm neither attacking nor defending Carroll, but I'm guessing some of you are youngsters who don't remember a certain Raymond Wilkins who had a reputation for backwards and sidewards passing.
it took a further two decades before english football began to appreciate this, via barcelona.
I think Carroll has been pretty good, not spectacular, but the comments criticising him for not playing hollywood balls are pretty depressing. you guys wonder why england underperform at international level and can't seem to string two passes together? it's because of this attitude.

It's about roots and identity.

You just have to look at swansea, they have much more bite now but this passing back and to nowhere is pointless and time wasting. Do it when we are 3-0 up but you need to be creative with it not just keep ball. Brighton sum up what I detest. That home game against them was a bore fest and all they wanted was 0-0. At this level I would hope us to be a little more inventive that's why holliet and players like him are key. Direct and cause problems.I played sunday league football today.
Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.
I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.
We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!
