My take on it on having returned and now with a nice a cup of tea at home with Swancelona on the box was that Carroll gives us a different dimension to our game that I haven't seen for some time.
He just sits in front of the back four and as posters have said is always available and it eases the pressure off the back four and midfield as they can just lay the ball off to him. It resulted in us being dominant and boro just chasing. Admittedly Boro are v poor but experienced players like Krancur were using Carroll to lay the ball off to, admittedly it doesn't go much forward with him but we retain a lot more than we ever have in recent memory and allows players like Simpson, Krancur and Barton to concentrate on what they do best and players like Dunn and Hill are less exposed at having to play out with the ball or do long balls.
Does lose it on occassions but at least he takes responsibility something lacking from "premiership" players like BZ and Bosingwa.
Very impressed with him today but noted some in the crowd moaning that we were simply doing Spurs acedemy job of giving him experience. I disagree think him infront of the back four give us another option and he will definitely get better.

Before the game you were dismissive of him, so it's possible that you noticed his incomplete passes more than the other players?

I take each game as it comes , seen him play a few times now and not convinced he's what we need. Firstly he is not our player so I couldn't care less about his potential , he's arrived with a big fanfare , been given the sacred No.10 shirt and has failed to produce a decent performance so far. If it were Karl Henry making the mistakes Carroll made today this board would be in meltdown!!!

Some very good passing from him today but some mistakes too to be fair. Showed a lack of experience at times. Will be very useful against teams like Borough and other teams in this league who just sit back and offer nothing. Wouldn't trust him against the better teams away from home though, need Henry in there.

I'd never heard off him before we signed him so had no expectations, can see a good player in there but I'm sorry he loses possession far too much in dangerous areas.

A few glimpses of class but my word the amount of times he gave the ball away in dangerous areas was shocking
Think he's been poor to be honest. Quite disappointed. Was expecting a lot more but hopefully ill be proved wrong.

Some strange comments on here. We win, we keep another clean sheet, we're top of the league, we play what is considered by the manager our best game this season, and still some want to moan.
And how one or two can 'totally agree' with a guesstimate of 30% pass rate completion for Carroll when it was 86%, is bemusing.
I dread to think what some of you will be like if/when we eventually lose.....Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Just looking to work out why your assessment of his pass completion was so badly wrong. It's hard to trust your other assessments at face value based on that.
Your early post was wildly inaccurate, but the last couple show a little improvement tbf. I might give you a chance in the next matches assessment of Carroll, but I'll be calling for your head if you are still so far off the ball.
