  • Comparing now and our promotion year.

After 9 games we are currently on the exact same points of 23.

We need to beat Barnsley to match that year where we had 26 after 10.

If we beat Millwall then we better that year with 29 compared to 27, so a draw away to Millwall which I think we would all take matches 27 points after 11 games. Considering we finished poorly that year, it's good to keep up with what was a blistering start. Clearly had much better goal difference in 2011 though.
I played sunday league football today.

Clearly I was the best player on the pitch.

I scored 5 and made 7 last ditch tackles.

We lost 5-0 but the rest of my team were sh it!

I think we had a long run with a load of draws in it starting about now last time. We went unbeaten for ages though. Was it 19 games?

Yes, I think the scoreline flattered us that night as well!

I'd be interested to know how many of the opening 9 fixtures last time round were against top half teams.

Looking at our fixtures for this season only 3 teams we have played are currently in the top half of the table and none are in the top 7. Got probably our two toughest fixtures of the season so far (Burnley Away, Wigan Away) after Milwall.

We could have played them and they'd be 3 points down, and the teams we've played might have won their game if they hadn't played us?

None of the teams we've played have been a walk in the park, all been tough and they all play as if it's a cup game.

Yes Leeds and Bolton away looked like really tough fixtures at the time and I bet they both end up top half.

Looking at the stato list earlier on in this thread, it doesn't seem too dissimilar, as only Leicester and Palace away struck me as particularly difficult games, no Swansea, no Norwich, no Cardiff who all ended up Top 6. Very difficult to tell where others will end up at the moment, have Burnley got the squad, have Blackpool got the squad, have Leicester got the squad to maintain the challenge, only time will tell.

The last promotion year we started off very well and then stuttered (it was said because the Faurlin saga but I am not so sure given our performance in the premiership). This year we are top even though most admit that we have not played particularly well. I think this is the main difference.

When we went 19 games unbeaten we had 32pts, so anything over that we are well on track.
