i read the article, Hughes: I was tainted by QPR so I know I'm lucky to get another chance at the Britannia, this morning and found the following quote interesting:

'The perception is that I brought in a lot of players at one time that disrupted the dressing room, and that was the reason they had a bad season. But the dressing room was damaged when I got there,’ says Hughes. ‘We’d got through the first season and stayed up, but I knew that group couldn’t keep us in the Premier League. I tried to add qualities I thought were lacking, brought in good characters. But, in the end, if the mix is tainted you can’t do anything.'

if i'm honest, i think this is nonsense on hughes' part... barring nelsen, which 'good characters' did he bring in? (and for that matter could the previous group have done a worse job?) but at the same time, is it possible that warnock destroyed the dressing room?

Just passing the buck . The discipline and control that's there now wasn't there then . It seems from warnocks book some players were doing whatever they liked and I'm assuming that continued into Hughes reign . We stayed up cos we still had some players that cared , Hughes totally erased that with the influx in the summer in my opinion

I feel sorry for him. He should of been given more control and a bigger budget

What a cop out. So what if the dressing room was already bad. It was even worse when Harry took over and he's turned it around. He was the manager and it was his job to sort it, simple as

If I recall, when he took over only two or three players had come in since we were promoted and the other players seemed to be getting on ok when we came up from the championship last time.

He was given free reign, bought in his entire backroom and scouting team, an entire pre season and a large budget to mold the team in his own image. 0 wins in 14. But yes, not his fault.

              Good one!

'brought in good characters' says it all.
                Nothing to prove

Hughes did admit he didn't spend enough time with the team because he was trying to improve other off the pitch matters.

MH brought the following during the summer:
                      Kieron Dyer
                      Ryan Nelsen
                      Andrew Johnson
                      Robert Green
                      Samba Diakité
                      Fábio
                      Park Ji-Sung
                      Junior Hoilett
                      Cesar
                      Granero
                      Bosingwa

I would like to think Dyer, Nelson, Johnson, Green, Fabio, Park, Hoilett, Cesar, Granero have good (or at least non disruptive) dressing room behaviour. What evidence in their history is there to say otherwise? Not sure what is happening with Diakite. Bosingwa has a bad record from before with his national team. Otherwise I'm not sure what disruptive things he have done before coming here.

To me it seems like MH is not completely speaking nonsense.

Yeah you're right, another £20-£30m should have been handed to that clown to be wasted

That statement that " the squad was already tainted before he arrived" is the most Annoyong thing I have ever probably read. Knowing what he claimed to have known, he then proceeded to add MORE players and not first get rid if the problem ones, what a .... It makes what HR has done this year more remarkable!
                          Kept the faith!
