His BBC interview was much more muted than his interview on the official website, where he spouted some real garbage!
"Kranjčar has had no pre-season in Russia"
Well, that's hardly surprising is it ..... seeing as he was with Dynamo Kiev in UKRAINE! And it's not true! Niko completed pre-season with Kiev & played in most of their friendlies. He picked up his thigh injury in training, three days before the Ukrainian season started (in mid July) and has barely played since. Redknapp spoke as if Niko's lack of fitness was Niko's fault. If he's been injured, he will need time to regain sharpness - and the Rangers fitness coaches need to get their backsides into gear and start working with him!
Having followed Niko's season in Kiev, I have many criticisms of the way that club do things. But, the one thing I could not fault was their fitness coaches. Players recovering from injury receive really intensive treatment & have special individual recovery programmes drawn up for them, to ensure that they're ready for action again. Even training sessions over there are much longer & more detailed than they are here.
