  • Eggs in one basket??

I hope not,I really hope Harry hasn't limited his "search" for a striker to just his last club,if so we could be waiting quite a while( unless we get the kid Kane),despite him being positive we'd get a striker( at last) today, alas nothing happened so we go into our weekend game again hoping we can scrape home 1-0 again or will it be back to bank 0-0s,either way we are becoming a yawn Fest with little creativity and only one fit striker, despite our millions.Yes,I do know we are top before anyone asks me.

do you reckon were in this position because of HR.s shortcomings in the transfer market ,or are we just unlucky with the injuries to AJ and Zamora ?

Yes and no,he had all summer to get strikers,he released 4 and got 1 in,we have been lucky so far, very narrow wins, great defence but little creativity and only one fit striker, ridiculous situation to be in,and Harry can't see beyond spurs!!

What's wrong with Billy Sharp? - he and Austin would make a superb partnership IMO

As much as I love Harry, he seems obsessed with Spurs like they are the only team that produce footballers.
Glad that Bale deal went through as it's stopped him commenting on that now.

Still loves his references to Merson on a weekly basis though.

Speaking to a Leicester Season Ticket Holder this week , he wasn't impressed by Kane when on loan.
He said he scored 1 goal in 12 games!!!

We've enough players at the club capable of scoring goals. Watching us recently part of the problem seems to be the way we play. We seem to sit quite deep and play a more patient game, committing less players forward, we've the best defence in the league both on paper and based on match play. Guess you should always play to you're strengths , we are lacking a player to unlock defences , hoping this player is kranjcer.

Would be tempted to at Traore down the left instead of matt Phillips to service Austin on Saturday we are simply not getting enough crosses into Austin

At the end of the day we ain't losing , the defence is tight and seems to be sorted and that's great.
But if anyone did score 2 goals against us, could we match or even better at the moment?
Kranjkar will be key this season, along with Phillips and Hoillet both staying fit and playing in the same side.

For me, that's what will get us promoted this season.

Which players are you referring to that are capable of scoring goals? I looked up the records of Hoilett, Phillips, Jenas, Barton, Henry and Kranjcar. Not a single one of them has a good scoring record. Even Kranjcar only got 11 in 72 appearances for Spurs.

I'd be interested to know who you think is going to get plenty of goals from midfield.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

Agree with this. Start phillips on the bench as hes clearly not match fit yet. And kranjcar could just provide that creative spark we need, the lad can pick a pass out of nothing.

Unlucky with injuries to AJ and Zamora? That's a good one! Good old Hughesless bought these injury-prone players to our club and they've proved themselves completely true to type. So no, it's not 'unlucky', it's more like a lack of forward planning. I think the OP is pretty well spot on, as are others in this post; Harry seems obsessed with looking to his former players, whilst possibly ignoring other options. Charlie Austin will prove a good investment I hope, but he's not the solution on his own. And yes I think Kranjcar will make a difference (lack of injuries permitting), but we seriously need a striker to support CA up front, and it appears Harry doesn't think Hitchcock or Shariff are quite ready for that role yet. The lone striker role doesn't work for us, I think the Brighton game proved that, and it's clear we've missed AJ's pace and guile around the box. We need someone in this mould as back-up, or even as a starter, and we're not going to get Defoe, much as I think we'd all love that option. Adebayor? Billy Sharp? Who knows. Let's just hope Harry pulls something out of the bag, because with that last part of the puzzle in place, we're perfectly placed to storm this league.

Agreed, Billy Sharp, proven goalscorer at championship level.
Would be a good addition to the team.

I don't really get the Sharp love in. Seems very up and down. Good for Scunthorpe years ago, then rubbish for Sheffield Utd, then good for Doncaster but could barely get a game at Southampton and hardly set the division on fire at Forest last year.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not delusional and think we'll get Defoe, but don't really understand where this "Sharp will get goals" thing is coming from.
