  • Harry Kane was the DD mystery striker

...not Adebayor, reveals Harry. Looks like we're still trying to get him on loan:

“Is Andy going to stay fit?” asked the manager.

“If I get a problem up front with say Andy, who missed all last season with injury, we’ve also got a problem with Bobby and his hip. I wanted to take Harry (Kane) on the deadline when AJ looked as if he might go to Palace, and it still might happen. The trouble is Spurs have only got two strikers, Defoe and Salgado, and Harry’s the third choice, but he needs games.”

But a striker apart, Redknapp insists he is not loan or short-term shopping for any other position.

“I think we’ve got the squad we need and I’m very pleased with the additions. Up front’s the only area I need.”

Spurs have Adebayor, surely he comes before Kane? Last season he came before Defoe as well

Kane's stats on wiki not overly impressive apart from 7 in 21 on loan to Millwall in 2012 still better than Bobby Zimmer tho.

Surely Kane is just a big a gamble as Hitchcock?

Neither is proven to be any better or worse than the other so why not give Hitchcock a chance.
He's gonna try harder and put in the effort because at the end of the day we are his club!

          No brainer for me.

And apart from anything else, haven't we have had enough Spuds players through the doors in the last couple of years.
Bored of hearing all my Spurs mates calling us Tottenham reserves.

Redknapp explained: “I was going to take Harry on the deadline. I was going to take him that night when AJ looked like he was going to Crystal Palace. Now, I don’t know. If Emmanuel Adebayor’s not in Tottenham’s squad they’ve only really got two strikers – Jermain Defoe and [Roberto] Soldado. Harry’s probably the third choice there now. Whether they’ll still loan him, I don’t know. They might do.”

QPR boss Harry Redknapp says he was close to signing Harry Kane on loan from Tottenham - and may make another move for the striker.

“Harry is third choice, but if they feel he needs games then they might do. It certainly didn’t do Andros [Townsend] any harm last year.”

Need an experienced front man for a long slog in the championship in my opinion not an up & coming kid.

Carlton Cole, Billy Sharp available, might be worth a cheeky loan bid for Shane Long or Gary Hooper both not getting games

Seems odd that Harry would of let a veteran and proven scorer leave us and bring in a kid to replace him. Very risky. Could of bitten him right on the ariris. Does seem to be a case of 'if he's on spurs books he's good enough for rangers' with our manager.

Adebayor has been told to train with the kids from what I heard. Spuds want his wages off the salary bill, so doing everything they can to force him to leave.

Still think Billy Sharp would be the best replacement for Andy Johnson not being fit to play. Failing that, Carlton Cole did alright in the Championship.

No need to bring in a kid as Hitchcock is probably just as good.

Adebayor - no way....poor attitude wherever he has been.

Not at all Harry has worked with the young players at Tottenham , he knows what they can do. Bit risky selling aj? I think this interview shows that Harry believes he will get injured at some point ......... A week later his out for 10days lol.

He's worked with them yeah, but they were not good enough for him to play them. If taking him meant he 'has' to play, then I think it would of been a huge gamble for us and our promotion hopes.

I would rather give Hitchcock a run rather than loan Kane, however, I would not rule out signing a striker on loan with a view to a permanent deal in January.
Perhaps a bid for Wells would be successful. Wigan are considering a big bid for Rhodes in a similar deal.

I'm hoping we go for Rhodes in January. Him and Austin up top would be quality.
