If you never bet and dont know anything about betting why go to a betting shop?
I would steer clear, its too late to get good value on QPR to go up, if you really are determined then wait until the loan situation resolves itself,
Betting 1k to win 1.8 is not great value especially over a whole season its a very good way to spoil your enjoyment of the rest of the season,
If you really want to bet a grand to collect 1.8 or so then scan the horse racing and look for a slightly odds on favourite thats napped by 3 or more tipsters in a field of less than 7 horses thats already a course and distance winner and won last time out there will be a few of these over the next couple of months and majority of them will likely win, safer bet and you will (probably) collect your winnings much quicker and it wont bugger of your enjoyment of watching the R's
BUT only do it if you could burn the cash in front of you on the spin of a coin and walk away laughing, bookies are in the main richer than punters!Last edited by PeterG; 10-09-2013, 12:08 AM.its New Era number 8 i tell thee, bring on the fireworks

Ted.
For what it is worth, here are my thoughts. I gamble regularly on Rangers and also on other league matches especially anti-post bets. Last year I had Doncaster @14/1 both to win it and e/w. I got lucky there as Donny were very fortunate to pip Bournemouth (who I tipped as a racing cert for promotion half way through the season when you could get 2/1 on 'em). So you fancy a flutter on the R's ... well as others have pointed out the odds are very flimsy but that is due to the fact that the bookies generally know a good thing when they see it. Currently, Rangers are not even playing particularly well and remain unbeaten which speaks volumes. This may be a competitive league but it lacks quality and I can only see Watford, Forest and perhaps Blackburn or Leicester being a threat. If you have to bet don't touch the horses as someone has suggested and for some value go £500 e/w so if they fail to win it and only get promotion you'll get most of your money back ... but if they walk it, which I firmly believe they will, then you'll get back approx £2,500. There is no feeling like it when you back your team and they deliver the goods ... obviously the opposite applies when it goes pear-shaped! It is ironic that you mention a grand as that is what I'll be having on Rangers to win it at 12/5 before the Brum game even though I backed us pre-season with bets involving The Posh and Fleetwood. This is all my own personal opinion but I'd never give dud advice to a fellow Hoop ... especially a poet like yourself!

It’s not as if QPR have such an outstanding squad and are head and shoulders above other sides in this league. The squad is still small and lacks strength in depth, especially in central defence and attack.
I would put QPR on par with a number of Championship clubs like Forest, Watford, Reading, Wigan, Blackburn, Bolton (maybe a bit better, but not much). These clubs have also got good squads and arguably more potent strikers (not relying on one or two players for goals). Then there are a few other teams who can cause a surprise, Blackpool for one.

Another stupid thread where people getting carried away after a few games. 1st thread was the odds on going unbeaten all season. Then couple more have now started. I remember being on here after the Swindon game, where it was just all negativity. Stuff like, Austin is a flop, we are not going to get promoted with this team and lets be realistic our team isn't good enough to get promoted. Now a few excellent away wins later and its like promotion is guarenteed. Lets see where we are at Christmas (which reminds me thats not far round the corner )'The problem with quotes on the internet is you don't know if they are authentic' - Abraham Lincoln
