I can see us going in for him as we are so short up front, kind of a desperation signing but one that oddly makes sense. No doubt he is out there now getting himself fit.
      What's his rating on fifa?

Don't play FIFA so not sure you're directing your question at the right person.

Carlton Cole is 6 foot 3 inches tall which would bring something different to the attack.

Naki Wells is 3 foot 6 inches tall so would bring a lot less.

Zamora is the tallest player on the pitch and every time I see him, a shorter opposition defender jumps higher than him and heads the ball away. We need a goal scorer.

Cole on loan a relatively low risk alternative to Zamora who has injury concerns.

Seems to me the squad is not short of tricky or fast or creative attackers: AJ, Kranjcar, Hoilett, Carroll, Phillips, Barton, SWP, BAE, Simpson

What does Naki Wells do that the above do not?

Nakhi Wells - never played outside of the 4th tier (aside from 5 games this season) and takes 8 chances to score 1 and another nippy striker with limited aerial threat or presence @ £3m minimum

                        or

Carlton Cole - England international, experienced PL player, aerial threat, holds the ball up and FREE?

No brainer when you put it like that. Id have Cole all day long. He was lethal when West Ham were in the championship.

                              Very unbiased descriptions there...

Rewind a few years and a very similar comparison could have been used to describe Rickie Lambert & Bobby Zamora. Look at them now.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.
