  • Must Read for Fans of the Chris Wright Era!!!!!!!

Just came across the attached while on the net and for those of us who remember the bleak struggle under Chris Wright this is a very insightful and tremendous interview with Clive Berlin by I think Cos Ataliotis of Kick Up the R's.

Its not a new interview and possibly has been seen by some before but for those that have not read it is certainly worth 30mins of your time.

Here is one quote from Blackburn which really sums up this board and what has been a topical debate recently about ITKs:

'I think we’ve got really good support. However, I think there have been some bad developments that have affected football, involving supporters. The Internet has become a way of spreading innuendo and rumour, and a way of really working people up. I look at some of the stuff on the websites, and it is so far from the truth. People talking to each other, seen by others, and stirring things up that aren’t true'

If the above if not of interest please ignore I however found it fascinating and it brought back loads of memories

The decline of the club in my view can be directly linked to this period. We went from a respected club punching above our weight to living from day to day, run in the main by owners who were liberal with the truth and had no respect for the fans (in some cases both) embroiled in numerous scandals and one of the most disliked teams in recent history.

Owners off the top of my head since Wright were Bill Power, Paladini, Flabby & Knee High and now TF (have I missed any??) and only BP and TF have I felt had any genuine affection for the club.

Scandals in that time were Training Ground being sold under us and getting next to nothing for it, Dodgy ABC Loan, Guns in the Board Room, Tear up with Chinese National Side, Mergers, Faurlingate (Again have I missed anything???) and huge turnover of managers

We had two promotions during that period so even in the bleak times there was some joy

I think we have however reached the bottom of the decline and are firmly on the climb now under TF and Amit etc

You say they were bad days, but they weren't any worse than the last season. At least the club felt like QPR, it stopped feeling like that last year.

Dude, you were probably in your nappies when I started following the club.

I remember the days when you would go to Loftus Rd and the club felt like a great family club. What did it feel like last season? No unity, just mercenaries trying to get one last big payday, Harry talking **** after each match, TF tweeting away ...

Well if your genuine QPR fan you have clearly lost many of your memories of the club as how you can even contemplate comparing ONE relegation (however bad it was) in the same boat as loosing our club completely via administration or a merger or having its great name dragged through the mud for the best part of 10years is beyond belief

The more you talk the more you come across as not being a Rangers fan I think many have sussed you out now

Vespa do you class a relegation in the same league as waking up each day not knowing if the club was going to still be about?? To me that is way worse then getting relegated

Personally I be never felt more disenchanted and distant from the club ,as last season. ,even including all the administration time ,at least we felt like one unit ,buckets outside the ground and all

West , it wasn't the relegation ( I've seen a few in my time ), it was what the way the club was run last season , the lack of pride from the players that I'm talking about
                      Rangers,Scooters ,Tunes and Trainers

Fair play I understand where your coming from with that.

Suppose what I am getting at is even with the players attitudes, the relegation, however bad last season was we still had a QPR we still had a team to support (granted some rightly will have felt disengaged from the club) but we still had the club and for however bleak it was last year the potential is there for it to be at the opposite end of the spectrum this season. Had we gone under be that shut down or a merger as the article suggests were genuine possibilities we would have been no more

I read recently that Chris Wright had approached Reading about merging the clubs (and using Reading's stadium).

Fortunately Reading laughed it off, but it's scary that this was even an idea, let alone one raised by a supposed 'fan' of the club.
