  • Old oak common...

Been out of the country for a few weeks and a bit out of touch. I read somewhere that if proposal goes ahead then 2023 is the earliest a new stadium will be in place. Is this correct?
    First game ; QPR 1 Bolton Wanderers 3, Saturday 2nd December 1978.

2023?! No wonder why they've been saying its the long term ambition!

I personally love Loftus Road so I wouldn't be too upset if that's true
    Under Les Ferdinand:
Luke Freeman, top assists in the league: 4million
Alex Smithies, great goalie for this club: 3,5million
Charlie Austin, 19 Premier League goals: 4million
Jack Robinson: Contract ran out, left for free
    And many more mistakes

LES FERDINAND, IT'S TIME TO GO

my understanding from the early planning doc I saw...if HS goes ahead....the whole project due for completion 2026.....but the planners say that
"it would be desirable" if a stadium "frontloaded the infrastructure" and "acts as a catalyst for the whole project" and provided "initial identity" to the project....
that's says to me a stadium would be completed earlier in the project......im not a planner and don't work in construction so your guess beyond that is as good as mine

I am a traditionalist, but Loftus Rd has had it's day, and we need to move.

What would be perfect would be if we could keep Loftus Rd for training and other things, but that will never happen/

So you're happy to stay in a cramped stadium with poor facilities, restricted views, and no possibility of expansion? A stadium that'll be even smaller than Brentford's new one?

I take it you don't want the club to earn extra money and want us to be condemned forever as a small club playing in the lower leagues.
Supporting QPR isn't just about a football team. It's about roots and identity.

No way Tony will wait that long! IMO he's primary concern is getting a new venue asap to expand his empire. The marketing that a (hopefully) premiership team and a large stadium/ music/ entertainment venue will bring to his airline would be massive.

i reckon 'premiership team' just about covers it.

Im with you Rich I enjoy attending Loftus Road but if there is any chance of a new stadium im 100% behind it and for me the sooner the better.

Do appreciate however other fans sentimental attachment to our current home and concerns that they will raise about any move.

Think if any move takes place we the fans have a major part to play in ensuring from day one when it opens that we immediately start creating an atmosphere and history for the stadium (includes outside the stadium as the pre match experience in the pubs etc is part of the days entertainment as much as what goes on on the pitch) as I think it is this which worries many fans that our identity is lost.

Massive role for the supports groups to play in the build too, during and after any move takes place. We know the pitfalls from moving grounds from seeing the success (Man City) and failures (Coventry) of other clubs so lets be proactive, engage the club positively and ensure that were seen as the club of best practise

Unfortunately, that is what its all about. We will be a marketing tool for rich foreign businessmen . welcome to the future, no thanks.
