When you get newcomers to LR these days, no matter what the footballs like, its such an uncomfortable place (seats) you cant blame em for not coming back.

Against Blackpool although we didn't win it was a good game very entertaining and we had 14,500 people there.

Now against Forest who are a bigger draw we had just over 13000.

The point i'm trying to make is, did we have a few neutrals on the first match (no other games on around us) and they thought fark this for 30 quid sitting in seats meant for infants.

You cant blame em for not coming back now can you.

Sorry guys but I can't agree that we need a new stadium at this moment in time.

At this moment we are a half decent Championship outfit who haven't been in the Prem for a number of years.

Many of the teams who have better stadiums, have been in the Premiership since our last stay and built new stadiums or have significantly improved their current surroundings. Many of these new stadiums are also not quite they seem as a Coventry's Ricoh for example have been jointly funded by Council involvement and the clubs as far as I'm aware at least in Coventry's case do not actually own the ground but merely lease it. This is something I wouldn't want Rangers to do, as the ground is our only tangible asset.

The main problem for us is that one of the many crazy decisions Chris Wright took was not buying the land behind the School End, had he done so, we would have been able to modernise far more easily.

If you look at building new stadiums Liverpool, who play Champions League Football year in year out, challenge in the upper reaches of our game, have put back plans for a new ground as they are struggling to raise the finance / justify the bank lending them the funds, so Im guessing we would struggle a hell of a lot more.

Whether Briatore, Mittal or Ecclestone go and speak to their many wealthy contacts or not, I very much doubt in the current economic climate someone is going to chuck millions of pounds on building us a new stadium just so the can put their name on it. It will hardly represent value for money will it.

Does Loftus Road have it's fault, undoubtedly Yes, and I am not averse to moving if it is done correctly. There is no point in knocking about in a 25-30K stadium even if everyone does get an extra bit of leg room. The atmosphere would die big time, having been to some of these Ikea put ups as others have said I would hate to be stuck out on the A40 with no soul or identity.

As for the fact we had more people aganst Balckpool than Forest, I would say that this is down to 2 main reasons. Firstly it is the 1st game of the season, everyone wants to go as there is all the hope and expectation so increased numbers are inevitable. The Forest game fell bang in the middle of Holiday season and I personally noticed a lot of empty seats from fellow season ticket holders who sit near mean, probably for this very reason.

Do Rangers need to look at the possibility of a new stadium, yes they do but not right now. Get the product right on the pitch and people will watch. Get to the Premiership, sustain it for a season or two and then start looking at the options. We would have a bigger pull with Sponsors, be a much more attractive proposition for potential naming rights, and would have the profile to fill it on a more regular basis.

            Good points there mate.
But at the end of the day, if we do get to the prem, many of us will prob get priced out of coming, cos LR is far to small and antiquated to make much money at the gate.
If you look at Cardiff, i think sponsers are paying for there new stadium.

Well if they can get sponsers i'm sure Flav, Bernie, and the Mittals could....its what they do.

if ive said it once ive said it a thousand times

we need to move to a bigger & modernised stadium if we are to move forward as a club

i know people say "but we can't fill LR" yes i know that but that's because the prices are way to high but if we had say a 35,000 or 40,000 all seater stadium they club wouldn't have to charge so much, they would be able to sell tickets at around £20 - £30 now that would fill the ground they would be able to reduce kids prices even more thus making the day out for a family affordable, whereas in our shoebox of a ground they can't

              simple really

all you have to do is check out clubs that have new grounds, i'd say a high percentage of those clubs have increased their attendances after moving into their new stadiums.

I'd rather expand LR than move.

If we were to move the main thing I would want is a close to the pitch atmospheric encouraging stadium.

Dont think LR is expandable......the seating is so bad, many views are restricted
we have been at a standstill since the eighty's and many clubs have left us behind, even clubs from lower leagues.

This style would suit us - a fantastic arena - Great views and close to the pitch. Forza Depor!
