There was a evening match in Mar 75, as usual Chelsea had taken the Loft, but there was about 100 Loft boys between the goal and where they normally stood, this Chelsea ****bag marches into the middle of us all and say's "right who's range.....", the next thing he said was probably to a nurse or doctor in Du Cane Rd Hospital as he was knocked spark out by this lump of a bloke stood about 6 feet from me.This of course kicked off a lot more trouble.

I was about 16 at the time, I was probably scared stiff, but we won 1-0.

We were always outnumbered at home by the big London clubs in the seventies, it wasn't until the membership scheme started in the eighties that the Loft became home supporters only, Up till then Millwall, West Ham Tottenham & Chelsea always took the Loft, but strangely not Arsenal.
Hmmmm-i remember them smashing us all over the place 1976/77 season-it was horrific.

I can remember the season before 75/76 when we were going for the league, we played Arsenal very near the end of the season and I remember an almighty ruck in the Loft.

Arsenal were on the left hand side of the loft as you come up the stairs, and I seem to remember it all kicked off when the stewards removed the ropes from that section they cordoned off in the middle for big matches

This was possibly one of the few times, if not the first that the Loft did not get taken by one of the big London teams.

I can't remember what happened in 76/77, but we won both games 2-1.
I have supported Rangers for 55 seasons, since March 1969.

I remember them invading the pitch and family area of the Loft after a league game in the eighties and also trying to do the same after Alan McDonald's testimonial game.

We never used to travel to their place in great numbers til the mid to late eighties. We always had an inferiority complex off the pitch and never had a united front. That has changed now. That's why so many Rangers fans bear such a grudge. It's not because of us being jealous of their success or because we aspire to be a big club like they think we do.

Like someone else on here has said, unless you lived thru that era and come from the West London area you maybe won't understatnd the hostility.
Bob, I was at that game when the demolished the wall, it was a FA cup replay in Jan 1974. The game was played midweek with an afternoon kick off due to power cuts, we all bunked off school.

As was becoming usual, the Loft was taken by hundreds of Chelsea. Stan Bowles scored the only goal and what was also becoming usual, we beat them again.

At the end of the game they swarmed onto the pitch from the Loft, smashing the kids wall down as your dad remembers, also demolishing the goal Stanley had just scored in, then they rampaged down to the School End and exited out into Ellerslie and South Africa roads.

Do I hate them?, not as I did, they just aren’t worth it.

Remember those old days only too well. Never could stand that club or their fans. Now, there isn't a day that doesn't pass when I don't see some Australian kid or international student in central Melbourne wearing a **** shirt. But Abrahamovich is now obviously getting worried that soon the Man City shirts will start appearing eating into the Chelsea revenue. Its alright for Chelsea to spend a fortune establishing a world name but when someone else tries to do it then its panic stations.

We have had this discussion before but in 75/76 Arsenal got booted out of the Loft and it carried on into a massive ruck underneath. But as others have said that was the first time that a big side got into the Loft and were kicked out, usually they got in early and outnumbered us. But that day Rangers were in there early as well and when Arsenal showed themselves the Loft responded.
              RIP: Doug, Sniffer and Pat

chelsea used to take over qpr...they were everywhere, police did little..a few qpr would have a go but sheer numbers....

the 2-0 win at the bridge 83-84, they gave us one section of the away end, then had to open another, high fences and padlocks PRE HILLSBORO KIDS....then another...bank holiday game??
anyway when we scored the 2nd...100s of qpr jumped up in their seats, west stand??
i remember chelsea fans standing and look all around and seeing qpr everywhere...

i just recall em as bullys and donuts with no history...new fans or true blues are pathetic imo...
seeing young asians and arabs wearing chelsea kits, cracks me up....chelsea were so racist it was untrue...they don't know their history.
                    things change but memories linger.

Not just the West Stand, I was in the East Stand lower tier, plenty of us in there.

During the last cup tie in 2008, we sang "we forgot that you were here", their reply, "we forgot that you exist".

Rather sums it up if you were them.
