  • We were a bit unlucky to be honest

First half, granted, we were **** poor, but after the break we absolutely dominated them in every area of the pitch. Missed several sitters. SWP went down in the box after what seemed to be a clumsy challenge from the Swindon defender. The two goals came as the result of dreadful defending - Suk-Young backed off the winger in almost comical fashion (worrying that he was so intimidated by a League One winger) and for the second Onuoha carelessly misplaced his pass. Other than that, Swindon didn't trouble us at all. Not suggesting that this was a 'good' performance, but just felt we were slightly unlucky and that the result flattered the visitors. Mo Sharif looked very good - lots of pace, skilful and not afraid to pick up the ball and run at defenders. Zamora was once again awful and as soon as he went off the pitch we looked a lot more energetic and dangerous up front. Overall, don't think the result is a cause for alarm. We're always rubbish in this competition. We could definitely do with a few more signings though - 2 or 3 would be great - striker, attacking midfielder and maybe another defender. In short - disappointing, but not deeply concerned.

Agree, didn't feel we were troubled at all. Murphy didnt have much to do tbh

No creativity at all, not enough movement, no one really looked for the ball.

SWP from where I was sitting looked a stonewall pen. Oh well, rather we lose today and win Saturday.

SWPs was never a pen. Great tackle by their defender.

We were $hit tonight. Only bright spark was Sharriff looked a right live wire.

These Carling Cup games attract some right plums along, probably their 1 game a season. Had a group of blokes behind me whinging when we were passing the ball about in our own half keeping possession shouting "get it forward" then when Hill duly obliged and lumped it forward, they would whinge when SWP didn't win the header against a 6ft 4 defender.

Hill passed to Swindon players more than our own, SWP was his usual self, leaving the ball behind & tackling himself whilst causing 1 or 2 problems because of him pace. Zamora was again pathetic & should just retire, the bloke is shot to bits and it's becoming embarrassing watching him try & play. All in all a $hit performance, but won't lose any sleep over a Carling Cup 2nd round tie.
You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity.

Thought we missed Henry's presence in the middle as we had no bite or presence. They also put three or four tasty challenges in which they got away with as we had no one in there ready to dish a bit back without Henry or Barton.

Two words for our midfield tonight 'soft touch'

Maybe they were worried about getting injured. Imagine if Henry and Barton had played and one or both got injured.

In fairness Matty I didn't have a great view of the penalty appeal - I could be wrong about that. Totally agree with you about the fans at League Cup matches - I was also surrounded by utter idiots. Immature teenage boys who seemed to be Watford fans, fidgeting young children (go and sit in the Lower Loft - that's why a load of us were kicked out!) and other plums I didn't recognise.
